What kind of mpg do you get?
From : steveb toquerville zionvistas
Q: i have a 06 dodge 2500 4wd short bed with cummins turbo. my mpg was showing to be around 16 on the overhead display on a 200 mile trip. on the return gaining 1700 elevation over the 200 miles it dropped to 15.5 or so. then i figured miles on odometer divided by gallons over a 1000 trip and a couple of fillups and it comes out 14.5 or thereabouts. i think this i should be getting more. the engine has about 45000 miles on it. we have intentionally cut it down to about 68 cruise control on the interstate. we are running with the bed empty and not towing anything. just carrying a couple of pieces of luggage and two people. thoughts steve -- ...the man who really counts in the world is the doer not the mere critic-the man who actually does the work even if roughly and imperfectly not the man who only talks or writes about how it ought to be done. theodore roosevelt 1891 .

tom lawrence wrote best fuel economy is usually realized at around 1800rpm or so. my 99 will always get nearly 20 mpg highway no matter how slow or fast i drive it as long as i keep it under 2000 rpm 70 mph. if i run it over 2000 rpm the mileage drops off noticeably. -- ken .

i figured miles on odometer divided by gallons over a 1000 trip and a couple of fillups and it comes out 14.5 or thereabouts. i think this i should be getting more. the engine has about 45000 miles on it. you still probably need a little break-in on the engine. do you do all light driving no heavy towing that type of driving while not at all harmful does extend your break-in period. also what transmission and what gears best fuel economy is usually realized at around 1800rpm or so. what are you turning on the highway i have the 4 speed od tranny. no idea of the rear end gears but not high ratio. actually 95% of the driving has been light duty with an occasional light trailer with no more than 1200# on it. i kind of figured it may need a little more running in. steve .
