snip looking forward to it.. we were in morro bay a few weeks ago.. it was 67 there and 108 in fresno.. interesting return trip from the delta this weekend.. we had a trailer tire blowout in madera and another one go flat at home! getting 4 new tires today.. mac please remove splinters before emailing what brand did you have and what are you gonna get i was going to get michelin tires for the fox but the gal down at cw insisted they were not made in 15. she said she checked and rechecked the book. she suggested goodyear but there is a several week backorder due to the new model year happening with trailers. she couldnt sell me anything. i went to a goodyear store and picked up 4 new tires. after i got home the gal from cw called back and said she made a mistake and they could get me michelin st tires in my size. just a couple hours late. -- fmb only one b in fmb .

hey all ! i replaced my condensor about a month ago and recharged the system w/a freon and oil combo set with the single gauge setup. all was fine and cold enough then 2 days ago i fired up the truck and the unit was not blowing cold air just cool so i grabbed the single gauge and tested the low side and it read the same as after i initially refilled system. the clutch kicks in intermittently for about 4 seconds and shuts off for about 4 seconds quite consistently. seems like the low on freon symptom. i tried to put a little more freon in but noticed that it didnt seem to help the on then off syndrome. i did not overfill at this point the gauge still being in the blue. is there a solenoid or switch to check or replace for this condition it is hot as hell out here. i dont want to get ripped off by some shop as i was hoping to remedy this and sell this great little truck with 200k miles for a new yellow hemi slt while the incentives are on. any suggestions thanks julio .

your vehicle speed sensor is not working properly. i had the same symptoms in my 98 ram. i let it go for a while thinking nothing of it. i later spent $2500 for a new transmission. after the fact i found out that had i had it looked at it would have only cost approximately $300 to solve the problem. get it check out soon! also the computer doesnt throw a code for it... ceebo .

youre on the right track as ignition in the intake is a sign of too lean mixture; i.e. low fuel pressure or plugged jets or dirty injectors. look for sediment in fuel and install an inline fuel filter that is clear so you can monitor sediment and fuel flow. my 99 dodge is start to run really bad it is starting to stall out and backfire through the intake i have replace all of the ignition components and have the same problem i am thinking it is a fuel problem like the pump or something in that area i have done a code check and according to the reader everything is fine. any idea as where to go next. .

michael bromley wrote trying to decide between 1500 and a dakota. salesman said the hemi gets about the same gas mileage as the dakota. hard to believe given the hp difference. which years and engines are good to stay away from in both i have a 2004 1500 with the 5.7 liter hemi. my driving is probably 60/40 highway/city. i get right around 17mpg. long highway trips at 65 i can get a little better than 19mpg. if you have a lead foot you wont get anywhere near this. heavy acceleration will significantly lower these numbers. mike i have a 2004 dakota quad cab with 4.7 4x2 just went past 10000 miles. got back last week from a long trip from ok to pa and back pulling a 4700 lb trailer at 65-70 speeds got 12 mpg average and the truck performed fine going over the hills in tn. coming back without the trailer averaged 19.5 2 tanks were just over 20 mpg at an average 70 mph speed. not nearly as good as the old ford ranger i used to have with the 4 cylinder stick shift 24/28 mpg but then that one couldnt have pulled the trailer or carried 5 people either. good luck in whichever you choose but i think i liked the 2002 dodge 1500 that i used to have a little bit better than the dakota. that only had a 3.7 engine which was fine with stick shift if you dont tow heavy loads jph .

first les start with getting rid of the aiwa stereo. now orange is normally associated with the illumination trigger. what you need to do is first test that wire to make sure there is no voltage to it. if there is you need to cap it off for the time being. next you need to un hook all you wires before you short out your truck. you have something hooked up wrong but with out looking at it i can start to tell you what. you need to take it some one that knows what they are doing and have it hard wired in properly. harry@carwreck.com wrote i tired to put a new aiwa cd player in my 1990 dodge b150. everything weems fine except for one small problem. there was one wire from the dodge harness that i couldnt figure out what to do with the orange one that was on the same block as the power. so i left this one alone. on my new stereo there was a yellow wire that seems to be for the memory i connected it to the pink/red wire and the stereo works and hold time and presets. the real problem is this when i turn on the headlights in this configuration it blows fuse 6 horn guage lights and rear lights-but not brake lights the new stereo doesnt have the dimming capability of the original unit... how do i fix thi

steve k wrote i have a dodge ram 1500 4x4 1999. i recently took it to the shop because while driving i can feel through the steering wheel all sorts of thuds and thumps that feels like its coming from near the end of the steering column. going around long corners i can really feel it. itll thump on and off throughout the whole corner. sometimes ill feel it just driving straight. its not a vibration or shimmy. one way i can try to explain it is it feels like someone is lightly tapping the steering column with a rubber hammer. its sporadic and holds no type of rhythm. so the guy in the shop says well your upper and lower ball joints have some play in it your tie-rod end has some play in it your wheel bearings have some play in it your track bar has some play in it. so i assumed he knew what he was taking about.... so after finding out that my guardian insurance plan paid for almost $600 of these repairs i had him do it all. the problem is still there. i couldnt believe it. i almost have a brand new front end basically. but yet the thumping knocking general unsafe feeling is still there. i just put new rotors calipers and pads on the front both sides. so its not a break vibration. i dont know much about this part of the truck so do you guys have any suggestions on where this could be coming from thanks steve ive got a 98 ram quad cab 4x4 sport w/ trailer tow pkg. it now has 78k miles on it and its been making or feeling this exact same noise since around 40k miles. been to a dodge dealer and an independent shop plus yearly inspections and ive been told nothing is worn. yet the noise / feel continues. hasnt really gotten much worse and doesnt really affect the handling. but i would like to correct it if i could. as a few of the other posters have mentioned its the intermediate shaft. the steering column is mounted solid to the body. the gearbox is mounted solid to the frame. the intermediate shaft connects the two and as the body shifts on the rubber mounts the shaft telescopes to compensate for the flex. what causes the thunk feeling in the steering wheel is the shaft has rusted or is otherwise sticking and is not moving smoothly so when it does give you feel the thunk. ive tried several different types of grease or oils and so far the only fix that ive found is to just replace the shaft. denny .

i was sent this info from my pophe found it on the net after i bought a durnago a periodic problem is failure of the powertrain control modulepcm. failure of the pcm may cause an intermittent stalling condition and can also prevent the vehicle from starting. the cost to repair the pcm is estimated at $530.00 for parts and $39.00 for labor. all price estimates are based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax. hope this helps rc peter wrote 99 durango 5.9l has started behaving really weird. it starts up more or less fine have to crank it more than usual and will idle fine. when i floor it under load rpms wont go over 2-3k it starts coughing and idles very roughly then stalls but sometimes will recover to smooth idle. i hooked up odb scantool and all sensors seem to be in working order. whenever it starts stalling oxy sensor shows lean mix and ignition advance fluctuates wildly between 10-25 degrees. no error codes. i even reset pcm by disconnecting battery - no joy. im thinking ignition trouble... had all wires distributor cap and coil replaced recently with accel hi-perf components... could it have something to do with this any suggestions welcome!!! peter sounds like a bad fuel pump. check fuel pressure at idle which will probably be normal. you really need to check them under a load. a chassis dyno is about the only way i know of to do that. i would check under the hood for the simple stuff - like loose vacume lines loose throttle body etc. if all that looks good id replace the fuel pump. the filter is in the same place if i remember correctly. might as well change that too. .
