Q: http//www.savefuel.ca/members/904335/hydrogen.htmovraw=hydrogen%20cars%20fuel&ovkey=hydrogen%20fuel%20car&ovmtc=standard i did a report on this in college last semester not this product but hydrogen fuel cells...i have never seen an add on system for a fuel only system. but could this work how reliable is it for a gas-only engine my wild guess here the website does not provide any description! is that hydrogen is generated via electrolysis and then fed into engine via air intake. this is similar to what propane-powered when you look at the site it says hydro-gen. i suspect it is water injection. i dont know how good this is for an engine but ive seen water injection systems for sale at jc whitney in the past. they claimed more power due to the added oxygen but i just cant see spraying water into your intake manifold. i could be wrong but ill let someone else try it. i dont think its water injection. says hydrogen generator on the website and theres a mention of electrolysis as well. whatever... its a scam anyways peter .

honestly if i were in the market for a new vehicle i would consider buying a hybird but it would be stupid financially to buy one purely to save money on fuel... agreed. the savings is nice but not enough to pay for the increase in cost over the same model with a 100% gas driven drivetrain unless you are driving a good distance. in fact i drive about 140 miles per day .... and even at that the roi for a hybrid civic is negligible. im still going to buy a hybrid or other alternative energy vehicle within the next 3 years ... but the thing driving that decision is not saving money ... its to support the technology that will free us from the grip of the arabs and improve the environment ... no offense but the change to alternative energies is not about $$$ its about doing the right thing. craig c. .

people in general not just americans are creatures of habit. in the broad sense people hate change especially when changing something that has been part of our lives for so long. a prime example other than this situation is tv. hdtv has been out for how long now 5-10+ years to the mass market yet there are still people that wont hear of it. they would pay more for a standard tv ... which makes the broadcasters drag their feet as well ... the demand just isnt there for hd broadcasting. i just upgraded to a hdtv ... it rocks. we are beginning to be forced into change right now on oil dependency. the rising cost of crude oil will push that faster than any government mandate. i read last week that gasoline could go as high as $4.00 per gallon. i can guarantee that alternative energy will start rolling big time when/if that happens. note i do feel that our government should do more. for example bush should not have lowered the tax deduction for buying hybrid vehicles ... he should have raised it. in fact he had/has the opportunity to give this technology a huge kick in the ass by offering larger tax incentives to the end consumer and to the manufacturer/distributor. one argument i encounter a lot when i mention to gassers that i want a diesel is ohh its hard to find diesel apparently they never actually look for it. however they have a point there are about half as many diesel stations then gas station around here that means i only have about 50 diesel stations in a ten mile radius if they want something to replace gas they need the infrastructure to back it. you can buy gas on just about every corner but where do you fill with natural gas or hydrogen if the government mandated that every gas station was to carry hydrogen and natural gas then people might be a little more open to the idea. i am looking forward to seeing $4/gallon gas prices! i want to see all those escalade owners and h2 owners and all those kids that were given a ford f250 v10 for graduating highschool to spend $120 each time they fill! and it will just cost me $20 to fill my motorcycle! something that would work well for me is an electric car with a solar panel roof. it would spend just about its entire life outside and most of the time parked. leave it outside for nine hours while im at work and its fully charged for the drive home! never have to fill it never have to plug it in! if only they were not so ugly!! .

tbone wrote the brake booster is powered by vacuum not pressure so there should never be pressure on its diaphragm. you cannot blow into it because the one way valve prevents it. i would look under your dash and make sure that you dont have a loose or broken vacuum line. the air being sucked through it could be causing both your noise and stalling at idle. thanks tbone. that is on the agenda for the am. i do remember the line that went through on the drivers side got pinched and i had to rework some stuff to get it back in right. might have some work to do still. -- this is by far the hardest lesson about freedom. it goes against instinct and morality to just sit back and watch people make mistakes. we want to help them which means control them and their decisions but in doing so we actually hurt them and ourselves. .

another clue the dongle hanging off the front of the brake booster has two lines coming out. one goes to the manifold. i assume this is for vacuum. the other runs to a tee and then into the firewall at a couple of places. the new one also has a capped nipple sticking out the front that the old one didnt have but im assuming its is a non-player here. do the lines running through the firewall act as a pressure relief system no the ones going through the firewall are used by your climate control. there is at least one one-way valve right after the dongle i could blow through it one way but not the other. i could not blow through the system from the brake booster side after removing the valve. these valves are used to maintain vacuum on the brake booster when the intake manifold vacuum drops. if the pressure gets to high would it destroy a diaphram in the booster the brake booster is powered by vacuum not pressure so there should never be pressure on its diaphragm. you cannot blow into it because the one way valve prevents it. i would look under your dash and make sure that you dont have a loose or broken vacuum line. the air being sucked through it could be causing both your noise and stalling at idle. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

moparman wrote interesting i would be interested in running bio fuel too but its not a recommended fuel in my 2005 3500. i think ill stick with the fossil fuel main;y because i dont want to void my warranty. supposedly it only voids the warranty on the fuel system. however what i have read has been fuzzy. truth is i cant find a single instance of the *newer* dodge trucks having any problems. quite the opposite actually. the 50 or so cases that i know of that use bio either b5 b20 or b100 have all had outstanding success. have you thought of trying a blend b5 or b20 to start until you feel comfortable with b100 thats what i plan to do. however the only place that i know of that pumps b20 is south of dallas which isnt convenient. it would take 1/4 of a tank to get there. are you in dallas perhaps i am confusing you with someone else but i thought i had read in some of your posts that you are. if so and you are on the north side of the metroplex the only option is to mix it yourself. then you can mix whatever % you like. b5 if you dont want any warranty issues ... http//www.dfwbiodiesel.com i live in cedar hill but my office is in the telcom corridor. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .

has there ever been any tsbs or anything on the steering columns in 98 durangos i find it hard to believe that a vehicle with less than 90k miles on it needs the steering column replaced. if that is the case it would seem like these things were defective or something. mine pops every time i give it gas stop or turn or just hit a bump in the road. i need some help diagnosing a problem with my wifes 98 durango 4x4 with 360 and the selectable part time and full time transfer case. anyway when turning left or right or stopping or accelerating from a dead stop a popping noise is coming from what feels like the steering column. like up under the dash or on the inside of the firewall. also i found a clean gray or silver bolt that was broken in half under where the wife usually parks her durango. the bolt was around 1.5 inches and had a locking nut on it. i dont know for sure if this came off the durango but the popping noise appeared about the time i found that bolt. i have looked under the hood for a missing bolt and havent found one yet. i havent removed the plastic under carriage covers yet to see if that might reveal a hole somewhere in need of a bolt with locking nut. the steering wheel and column do not feel loose. the popping noise also seems more pronounced after the vehicle is heated up or it is above 60 degrees outside. the steering pump does have a little whining noise and i have had the wife turn the steering wheel left and right repeatedly while i watched the power steering and linkage move. no audible popping while that was going on either. im just before taking it to the dealer and letting them try to find the source of the popping. any help here would be much appreciated. ben took it by the local dodge dealer and they said the entire steering column needed to be replaced at a cost of $1200 just for the steering column i believe and then another $300 to install it i think. ill have to look at the form they gave me again. nah i dont think i can stand to glance it over again. the durango has under 90k miles on it and looks good and drives good except for that occasional popping sound. heck it dont even do it with me much but it does with my wife shirley muldowney. .

jmc nogroupsspam@nojodibody.homeus wrote snip im genuinely asking the group this is it completely impossible that independents can get at least some of the same tools and training as a dealer no its not impossible. factory training is quite political in a sense the training involves only what the oem allows so true crap isnt identified as the crap that it is the why is explained in the next paragraph. also and especially in the case of chrysler gm and ford factory training isnt necessarily performed by factory employees its subcontracted out to a private vendor that private vendor hires surprise people off the street dealership experience is not an absolute pre-requisite. btdt tools; available to anyone who wishes to purchase them. some aftermarket equipment is better than what the oems offer to their dealers. 90% of it is still wrenches screwdrivers sockets and ratchets which we all buy from the same sources. or that a lot of what makes a mechanic a specialist is simply that theyve had loads of experience on a particular vehicle or brand repetition dont know if it -is- an advantage but it does -have- its advantages. me ill take technical aptitude any day after that a fix it right mind set comes in a close second. except in terms of warranty work or a recall i didnt know about ive never had an independent tell me the dealer would have to fix that and whatever was broke still gets and stays fixed. quite possibly because there isnt xx degrees of separation between the customer you and the person who owns the business. its not unheard of for a dealership to farm certain work out to an independent because they dont have someone who has the skills to perform a certain service procedure or because theyve long ago lost the tools needed to perform that service. my local dodge dealer refers customers to me all the time. mikuni carburetors being a prime example snip .

i have a 1999 5.9 litre dodge durango slt that i purchased new. about 2 years ago...very scary that this has been going on this long i had brake work done usual pads replaced rotors truedalso replaced all 4 tires stock size at a local shop. after this work was performed my brakes will sometimes lock up at slower speeds 25 mph they become very touchy to the point that when driving through a parking lot just barely touching the pedal can cause the brakes to lock up. i have taken the durango back to this shop three different times and to two different dodge dealerships who can find nothing wrong with the brakes. this is absolutely not my imagination does anyone have an idea that this could be any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. -- paul -- message posted via http//www.carkb.com .

for the few who complained i suspect that to be true but once again they were not driving them the way they were intended to be driven. the example that you gave also had the defroster on all of the time which was a worst case condition for that type of vehicle. i think that i used my defroster about 20 times since i bought it in 97 and i lived in nj for most of that time so the constant use of the defroster is not a common thing. if you also want to try and drive it like a sports car then the mileage will be significantly reduced but they are not sports cars. ========= no arguemnt on them not being sports cars...but i live in maryland and to be honest my heater is on almost all winter...and my defroster is used almost every morning... in the summer i can and normally do drive without the air conditioner..... but many people use it all the time during the summer... and what is the advertized mileage of your vette the simple fact is that they are capable of significant mileage if you drive them that way and even though that cannot be done all of the time they will still always do better than your vette under similar situations. i do not know...what i can tell you is that i own 5 corvettes and a bb chevelle i am in the car hobby...and have a computer in each garage into which i record every nut bolt drop of oil gallon of gasoline etc for each of my cars.... the overall average mpg on that corvette is 24.2 mpg over the entire 69923 miles i have driven it since new... i will admit that i do not race around town in the car and generally have a fairly light foot... the chevelle is another story... but i use it differently ...very differently...usually 1./4 mile at a time... enjoy bob griffiths a friend at work has a daily driven corvette c6 not the brand new one i think its a 2003 she says that with her lead foot she gets about 19 in the city and about 30 on her road trips usually with a lot of triple digit cruising in there when the car weighs nothing and has a very low rpm engine traveling at a high speed it all adds up. .
