From : magnusfarce

Q: the electric system has completely shut down. nothing works in on or start position. clock light comes on in accessories position. the battery is fully charges and i can find no blown fuses. im wondering if this means the computer has gone out. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. --------------------------- = wake up america = .

i noticed that there is a small amount of fluid near the outer end of one of my injectors. there is enough to keep a very small area on the injector body damp but not enough to drip. do i need to replace the injector or can it be repaired also if yes to either of the above does this need to be done immediately soon or only if it gets worse - magnusfarce .

the main beam headlight lenses on my 94 ram are clouded over so badly that my lights are not as bright as they need to be. ive been told that this comes as an entire assembly and further research yields a dealer price of $180 and an aftermarket price of $65. it has also been suggested that the cleaners sold at auto stores for polishing acrylic might help. any experience out there with this problem - magnusfarce .

i purchased an 04 dakota ext cab 4.7l 5spd this oct. it was brand new when purchased any way about 2 weeks later i put the tailgate down to load up and when i attempted to close it it would not lock. the catch mechanisms appeared to be working fine they just would not lock. i played around with it for hours..banging the tailgate shut to no avail. finally i came back to it the next morning closed the gate and it locked same thing happen again yesterday as of last night i was still not able to lock the gate in the upright position. anyone have any similar problems how can i fix this do i need to bring it back to the dealership any help would be greatly appreciated! john .

i bought a cam and lifters for my 86 318 on ebay. the lifters are roller lifters. will these work in my engine without any modifications .

continued thanks. on the subject of compression and/or leakdown rates what sort of numbers should i expect to see on this engine with a compression ratio of 17.51 somewhere around there you can expect compression results of around 250psi or so. .

thanks everyone for the help. it turned out to be the upstream o2 sensor. i broke down and went to the garage. i only had the code reader. they used a snapon scanner and knew the problem in 20mins. i wish i had one of those but i dont think the price is quite worth it for someone that works on his own cars and a few friends and family. ed im getting a code p0171on my 2000 durango. i replaced the plugs and air cleaner but no luck. the plugs were very black. also notice the fuel smells funny very sweet however i filled up my jeep at the same station on the same day and no trouble w/ it. any suggestions thanks ed .

is the injector in the cylender some of it its actually no different in position than a spark plug... and on the 12v engines removes in the same manner. you just have to disconnect the fuel line that runs to it first. on the 24v engines the injector is in the middle of the combustion chamber like the spark plug on a hemi and you have to remove the valve cover and rocker arms to access them no tube through the valve cover like on a hemi. on the 03 and up engines you also have an electrical connector to deal with. i thought that was a new thing i dont follow... he is probably talking about the common rail injection. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

tom lawrence wrote leakdown test on a diesel without spark plug holes i didnt think of that til after i mentioned it in the original post. you remove the injector. a bit more involved than just yanking a spark plug but not too difficult on a 12v. is the injector in the cylender i thought that was a new thing .

ok whatever. -- budd whats the difference between a bad golfer and a bad skydiver one goes whack darn and the other goes darn whack. budd cochran wrote no. im just openly doing what you do refusing to provide proof instead of being a wuss and trying to ignore the request . . .although any manuals for an item like that would be most likely trashed by now 10 years after the fact dont you think besides youre not worth the effort you piece of whale crap. budd you and i never really got along very well but thats okay because life is like that. i got hot about the last line in the one post of yours because it seemed so childish and dumb to me and was over the line and i allowed a boil over but thats okay also. life is like that. as a rule we pretty much avoid each other which has worked out okay. but all you are doing with these kind of posts to tbone is feeding the troll. you are accomplishing absolutely nothing except to make yourself look foolish which is his main goal. every time you post back like this he wins you lose. making a post to someone in a thread he is involved in is one thing but a direct reply to him is a no win situation. watch him closer ............... every time he gets his shorts knotted up and given back to him by everyone in here he will run around and answer every post in the group as if to say hey guys look what i know. even if his reply is wrong which as we know is the majority or just a repeat of someone else he attempts to save face in this manner. just ignore the guy. if you want to say something do it in a reply to another persons post which btw really burns him up because you arent answering him directly. he is such a predictable little man it is almost comical. if you dont water a plant it will dry up and die. dont water this plant. jerry .

the heater feels hot but no where near as hot as if i tried to grab say the radiator cap after the truck had been running a while. my mechanic says these heaters should get to about 100 degrees fahrenheit and hes going to check it the next time i take it in for service. my only concern was that it might be malfunctioning and that that could lead to worse problems like fire. ive decided to plug it in today because it got below zero last night and the old girl was complaining a lot when i started her this morning. btw this is a 22 year old truck and probably the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned. after i wash it i get a lot of stares because it looks so good. it will be a sad day when i have to retire old brownie. pat .
