What Happen To This Group?

Q: why mess with something that works. the new headlight look like an after thought. they moved the cup holder to the floor now if someone set in the middle they have no place to put there feet. i do like the numbers on the gauges instead of the letters c & h and l & h. this was a wt model maybe the slt with the chrome grill will look better .

liberally apply jb weld to the bottom of the pump. press the plate to the jb weld. use the ties to secure the plate. ted...what are you on what in the heck are you talking about ok i know the name jb weld is like drawing nails across a blackboard with some people but heres my reasoning. reread the original post. heres the operative sentence last night i finally took a peek under the van and saw the bottom of the pump casing is bubbly with rust. i can actually watch droplets of power steering fluid form where the rust is the weakest. look at it. hes got a ps pump with a perforated resivor. that means for some time now his ps fluid has probably been contaminated with rust. he also dumped 3 bottles of stop leak into the ps fluid. so his rack right now is filled with ps fluid rust and stop leak crap. plus that hes got so much salt water coming up from below as to saturate the bottom of the vehicle to the point that its rotted out the bottom of the ps pump. can you imagine for a second what the bottom of the rest of the van looks like what the rack itself looks like to really do this job right would mean tearing out the pump and the rack and all hoses and just throwing everything in the trash and and replacing everything with new stuff. it is not in my opinion very smart to hook up a brand new ps pump to a rack thats full of crappy ps fluid that may or may not be contaminated with salt water almost certainly has a good load of rust in it plus 3 bottles of stop leak crap and pump all that crud into the new pump. far better to band-aid the existing pump for a few years and eventually its either going to finish rotting out completely or hes going to end up with an inner tie rod thats hashed and will need a new rack anyway then he can just replace everything then. if you see a flaw with this reasoning then please explain it. maybe im too pessimistic but i just cant believe with a ps pump that has the bottom rusted out of it that the inside of his rack is pristine. he can probably do a rube goldberg thing on the ps pump with jb weld in an hour without taking anything apart. that will nurse the pump along to allow him to wring the last few miles out of the rack itself then when the rack blows chunks he can do everything all at once. ted .

what is the procedure for removing just the top piece you mean the piece thats cracked you cant - the entire instrument panel is molded as a single piece. youd have to remove the entire panel a fairly involved job - get a factory service manual before attempting and replace it. the top of the dash is called a top cover i know because i just paid $334.92 for it! thats just the part not the labor! i did the work myself i wouldnt recommend this to a novice! it took me about 7 hours. the dash cover screws are facing the windshield the only way to reach them is too removed the dash completely period! chilton book is ok but doesnt go in great detail just shows the basics. you will end up removing everything from front of the dash and droping the steering wheel column. hope this helps. wink has anyone tried this one its less than $120. my 99 dash is cracked in 3 different places. i want to fix it but i dont want to remove the whole dash out to do it. http//tinyurl.com/cc3p6 .

wrote tom thankds for the info and reality check. i really appreciate you taking the time to fill me in. mike tom lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net wrote in message one guy posted here recently that the transmissons in caravans arent all that great and if you tow with one dont use overdrive which mine has. the problem with overdrive is that on hills the engine will be downshifting into 3rd then back to 4th. its doing this because youre using too much throttle in its estimation to maintain your speed in 4th. this hunting back and forth is whats bad for the transmission. i-95 is pretty flat so i wouldnt worry about pulling with overdrive on especially with only 1000lbs. ever have the van full of people and cargo and run in overdrive same deal.... if you notice the transmission downshifting into 3rd then back to od then lock out od until youre back on flat ground. heaverier load from pulling the trailer the engine oil would get hotter than normal. no - but the constant shifting combined with the torque converter unlocking will raise the temperature of the transmission. thats why you want to lock out od if that starts happening. am i just being paranoid youre being prudent but theres a bit of paranoia starting to creep in. just hook it up drive it and be mindful of the transmission. youll be fine. if your really worried about it just change the tranny fluid when your done. but 1000lbs might as well be 4 big guys in your van. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-advice-towing-000-pound-total-weight-boat-trailor-nj-florida-ftopict135348.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=658053 .

the truck. the third hasnt had any problems yet but of course i told him it was only a matter of time! i like the ford though. drives nice. i like my dodge better but mostly due to the engine. my tranny has been pretty solid so far though auto and i tow around 11k. there were a few duramaxs up at the lake too. they seem to be more problamatic than the ford or dodge but people who love chevy seem to be willing to put up with that. the biggest thing that surprises me is still the number of people that buy 3/4 ton trucks no matter what brand. with my srw 1 ton i still have about 1000 pounds more weight to put in the bed than they do. it is surprising when you go camping how important that 1k is. by the time you add a couple pontoon boats kayaks fishing gear shooting supplies guns and then the dumb dog that 1k becomes very important. . 222 304968 rpuqe.3588$9i4.3012@read2..atl.earthlink.net question will the stock trans cooler be sufficient and if not which would be the better choice - a second cooler probably not in any significant airflow or a fan on the stock cooler pushing from the front. put in a transmission temperature gauge and let that make your determination for you after a couple of trips. always a good idea to have on any kind of tow rig regardless of the amount of coolers. .
