Weird dealer experience
From : oneijoe
Q: i had finally decided to trade my 4x2 96 ram. there were just too many times 4wd capability was missed and i realized i didnt need the full size capability. went to the dodge site and created my new truck and got the financing pre-approved through chryler credit sending the paperwork sent to my local dealer. i took the trip into town to work out the details. heres where things started going wrong... once i showed the dealer the printout on the truck i created from the dodge site i got a 10 minute spiel about some sort of vehicle sharing program it had a specific term but i dont remember it. to make a long story short the dealer could only get a standard tranny truck in the color and with specs i wanted. he did find one truck about 400 miles away that was somewhat close though. before he would proceed he wanted to have my trade-in inspected understandable. he said someone would pick it up at my workplace the next day. thats now been two weeks ago not acceptable... no one has been by to take my truck. no one from the dealership has called. and of course the $3500 incentive deadline has now passed. i dont buy/trade for vehicles often - im definately a use the truck till the wheels fall off kind of guy. this experience has contrasted sharply from times ive bought before. is this just a fluke in finding a dealer that wont order a truck for a customer nor follow through with a sale anyhow just thought id share this... .

when i ordered my ram bud brown dodge here in the kansas city area promised me the better of the rebate in effect when i ordered or when i took delivery so its up to the dealer for the rebates. i got lucky and ended up with $250 more in cash back and 0% interest when i picked my truck up but the other rebate would have applied if they hadnt had the better one. pk on thu 1 apr 2004 181352 -0700 big al nospamsal1@qwest.net wrote i had finally decided to trade my 4x2 96 ram. there were just too many times 4wd capability was missed and i realized i didnt need the full size capability. went to the dodge site and created my new truck and got the financing pre-approved through chryler credit sending the paperwork sent to my local dealer. i took the trip into town to work out the details. heres where things started going wrong... once i showed the dealer the printout on the truck i created from the dodge site i got a 10 minute spiel about some sort of vehicle sharing program it had a specific term but i dont remember it. to make a long story short the dealer could only get a standard tranny truck in the color and with specs i wanted. he did find one truck about 400 miles away that was somewhat close though. this may be a naive question wouldnt be a first for me but doesnt the factory build them to order any more yes they do but its a crap shoot. you get whatever rebates are available at the time of delivery not at the time you place the order. is that nuts or what i offered to pay in full before march 31st but they would not guarantee the rebates. this was lou fuse dodge in st. louis. btw the truck i wanted was built and sitting at another dealers lot. paying for it wasnt enough i had to take delivery! i live in tucson the dealers here wont even talk to me because i get a friends discount. one dealer came right out and told me it wasnt worth the trouble. what buttholes. no wonder american auto companies are doing so great. al .

that would be because they get to keep the holdback and not use any of it to pay for interest on an ordered vehicle. the one thats been sitting on the lot theirs or another dealers has been costing them money. pk on fri 2 apr 2004 070407 -0700 big al nospamsal1@qwest.net wrote when i ordered my ram bud brown dodge here in the kansas city area promised me the better of the rebate in effect when i ordered or when i took delivery so its up to the dealer for the rebates. i got lucky and ended up with $250 more in cash back and 0% interest when i picked my truck up but the other rebate would have applied if they hadnt had the better one. pk i called king dodge in st. louis and they also told me the above. but only on an ordered truck not on a dealer swap or a vehicle in stock. is that bs or what al .

yes that factory built to order my 03 tdi ram. they did screw me on the 48re tranny however. i orderd it in december of 03 and got the notorious to fail 47re and in the first week of 04 they started to push the vastly improved 48re. .

my exp. with special order vehicles is when they come in and theyre not exactly as ordered you most likely got switched to a std. production veh. from inventory somewhere with options that most closely matched what you ordered. its shipped knowing that in all likelihood youre anxious enough and have waited so long that youll accept it... and of course anyone suffering from a bad dose of new car fever generally will. the true number of vehicles that are actually built-to-order is small. by 6 months into the model year i.e. now your chances of getting a true custom order through the factory is practically nil. brian n/a@noplace.com writes yes that factory built to order my 03 tdi ram. they did screw me on the 48re tranny however. i orderd it in december of 03 and got the notorious to fail 47re and in the first week of 04 they started to push the vastly improved 48re. .
