Water in Flooreboard

From : mark wegmanncbhvac

Q: hi well just today i noticed a considerable ammount of water in floorboard of my 93 dakota 3.9 about a quarter of an inch i have in the past noticed the floorboard being wet but never really paid attention. but now with that much water it is really getting me to wondering. i am thinking that its the heater core but what else could it be i have a few doubts about it being the heater core because when it was dry and hot outside the floor was only a little damp but in the last week we have recieved around 4-6 inches of rain and now there is tons of water there. if you do think it is the heater core what is a decent estimate of how much it will cost thanks in advance guys/gals mark .

the drain on your a/c evaporator is clogged. that happened on my 89 spirit. also check out last weeks car talk @ cars .com tim b remove your shoes to reply hi well just today i noticed a considerable ammount of water in floorboard of my 93 dakota 3.9 about a quarter of an inch i have in the past noticed the floorboard being wet but never really paid attention. but now with that much water it is really getting me to wondering. i am thinking that its the heater core but what else could it be i have a few doubts about it being the heater core because when it was dry and hot outside the floor was only a little damp but in the last week we have recieved around 4-6 inches of rain and now there is tons of water there. if you do think it is the heater core what is a decent estimate of how much it will cost thanks in advance guys/gals mark .

and what is the easiest way to unclog it the drain is not how you described but i do believe i know which one your talking about. its right above the passenger side exaust manifold and is above what appears to be a heat shield. i tried running a piece of wire up it but no water came out. i just dont know how far i should push it up in there. i was thinking of using a air compressor to try to blow it but that seems to be just a quick sollution because it would eventually just re-clog again. let me know! and thanks once again! mark hi well just today i noticed a considerable ammount of water in floorboard of my 93 dakota 3.9 about a quarter of an inch i have in the past noticed the floorboard being wet but never really paid attention. but now with that much water it is really getting me to wondering. i am thinking that its the heater core but what else could it be i have a few doubts about it being the heater core because when it was dry and hot outside the floor was only a little damp but in the last week we have recieved around 4-6 inches of rain and now there is tons of water there. if you do think it is the heater core what is a decent estimate of how much it will cost thanks in advance guys/gals mark unless you have screwed up and are running wateronly in the cooling system its not the heater core. its a clogged evap drain for the evaporator. there will be a rubber drain on the passenger side of the firewall pointing down...its not a clean shot out of the pan as the end is pinched to help keep trash out...just cut the end off and watch the water pour out. .

when a heater core leaks normally you will smell the coolant and may even get a residue on the inside of the windsheild from the defroster. you said that there was less water when it was dry/hot and much more after a heavy rain. sounds more like an external leak like fresh air vent or window/windshld leak. does your a/c leave a puddle on the ground steady drip if so probably not evap.drain hi well just today i noticed a considerable ammount of water in floorboard of my 93 dakota 3.9 about a quarter of an inch i have in the past noticed the floorboard being wet but never really paid attention. but now with that much water it is really getting me to wondering. i am thinking that its the heater core but what else could it be i have a few doubts about it being the heater core because when it was dry and hot outside the floor was only a little damp but in the last week we have recieved around 4-6 inches of rain and now there is tons of water there. if you do think it is the heater core what is a decent estimate of how much it will cost thanks in advance guys/gals mark .

i also have a 93 dak but it has the 5.2 in it. over the past couple of years i have noticed a little bit of water in the passenger side floorboard too. but not a 1/4 or 1/2 inch. i have always just assumed that there is a seal that is going bad somewhere or something to that effect. have you had the windshield replaced i have and i was thinking that who did the install didnt seal it correctly but i could be wrong too. i dunno just a thought. hi well just today i noticed a considerable ammount of water in floorboard of my 93 dakota 3.9 about a quarter of an inch i have in the past noticed the floorboard being wet but never really paid attention. but now with that much water it is really getting me to wondering. i am thinking that its the heater core but what else could it be i have a few doubts about it being the heater core because when it was dry and hot outside the floor was only a little damp but in the last week we have recieved around 4-6 inches of rain and now there is tons of water there. if you do think it is the heater core what is a decent estimate of how much it will cost thanks in advance guys/gals mark .

of course it doesnt what do you expect form cardboard. i use both purolator and wix and prefer the wix. they may cost a little more but protecting the engine is worth it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i get startup lifter noise when i use fram their backflow doesnt work .
