Water in rear differential
From : billygoat
Q: i have found water in my rear axle differential. i never drive it in deep water so im pretty sure its caused by a clogged vent tube. im going to drain and replace may take a couple of times the oil and see if that is all it takes. i have a couple of questions for the list gurus. 1 whats the odds of this not causing any serious damage to internals bearings etc 2 whats the best way to get all of the contaminated oil looks like mud out. is there some fluid/solvent that can be used bill .

that depends on how long you ran it this way. put in a good synthetic gear lube and you may need to change the axle bearings if that is where the water is coming in. on thu 22 apr 2004 004717 -0400 billygoat notat2003@yahoo.com wrote i have found water in my rear axle differential. i never drive it in deep water so im pretty sure its caused by a clogged vent tube. im going to drain and replace may take a couple of times the oil and see if that is all it takes. i have a couple of questions for the list gurus. 1 whats the odds of this not causing any serious damage to internals bearings etc 2 whats the best way to get all of the contaminated oil looks like mud out. is there some fluid/solvent that can be used bill .
