Warm stalling issue

Q: i have a 2003 4.7 ram 1500 with automatic. the car has about 9700 miles. ive had no problems except one. on warmer days 74+ the car works well in the morning but when i start it in the afternoon it almost stalls until i tap the gas and it is fine. its almost as if a choke isnt engaging. do they still have chokes with fuel injection i brought it to my dealer they said reset computer valves on invoice. cool days 60s no problem. yesterday it was in the 70s and the almost stalling problem again. any ideas in general this has been the best car ive ever owned. it did not need any dealer trips except oil changes until now for 9700 miles . in comparison my wifes volvo needed to go back for an airbag light the first week we had the car. btw the dealer called me today and asked me if i was satisfied with their repair. i told them no. i also said that they should reimburse me for cab fare if i have to leave it again. they said dont talk to chrysler until their service manager calls me. no call yet .

i have a 2003 4.7 ram 1500 with automatic. the car has about 9700 miles. ive had no problems except one. on warmer days 74+ the car works well in the morning but when i start it in the afternoon it almost stalls until i tap the gas and it is fine. its almost as if a choke isnt engaging. do they still have chokes with fuel injection no need for a choke on fuel injected vehicles. the choke served to richen the mixture on a carbureted engine and a fuel injection system does that by increasing the injection pulse width. i brought it to my dealer they said reset computer valves on invoice. cool days 60s no problem. yesterday it was in the 70s and the almost stalling problem again. any ideas iow they basically disconnected the battery for a while. they probably did it by using their diag computer but the end result is the same and you could have done that yourself. in general this has been the best car ive ever owned. it did not need any dealer trips except oil changes until now for 9700 miles . in comparison my wifes volvo needed to go back for an airbag light the first week we had the car. that is why new cars have warranties sometimes they have problems when new especially with how complex they are getting. btw the dealer called me today and asked me if i was satisfied with their repair. i told them no. i also said that they should reimburse me for cab fare if i have to leave it again. they said dont talk to chrysler until their service manager calls me. no call yet it sounds like they either realized that they screwed up or perhaps they are getting a lot of warranty repair returns and customer complaints. there could be many things causing this but with the symptoms that you are describing it is sounding a lot like the tps throttle position sensor may be going bad. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

i brought it to my dealer they said reset computer valves on it could have been reset computer values .

from fatchance@noway.now tbone with the type of questions that you are asking are you sure that you want to do this job yourself this is not an insult just an honest question. i understand. no insult taken. i have to do the job myself or basically be without a car. i cant afford to pay $240 to fix this. why are you replacing the belt did it break or are you just replacing it do to maintenance if the belt broke you need to find out if it is an interference engine or not. it broke but its not the type that breaks the valves when it breaks. if it is you are going to probably need much more work done to it then replacing the belt. if the pulleys are properly aligned when the belt is put back on everything should work just fine provided no damage occurred due to failure. firing order is determined by the configuration of the cam and crank not the timing belt. there are no extra steps. be careful not to damage the pulley with your chain wrench. awesome. thats exactly what i needed to know. finally an intelligent reply i posted this to several different group. ill reinstall the cables exactly the way i removed them when i put the distributor cap back. i was worried there were other steps after aligning the belts. can i turn the car on for a few seconds with the timing belt correctly installed but before putting all the pulleys back the reason why i ask this is because i want to see if the engine works ok after installing the timing belts this car has 2 timing belts... its sohc though. i wouldnt want to put everything back together thinking i installed the belts correctly only to discover that i made a mistake and i have to tear the car part again. thanks. i dont have in-depth knowledge of this particular engine but i dont see why you cant do that although you shouldnt have to. just remember that in this condition the car has no charging or cooling system so running it very long this way is not a good idea. make sure that nothing will fall into the moving timing belts when you do this. is this a v6 engine in this car if so even though you may not have the money to have it fixed professionally i hope that you at least picked up some type of service manual for it to make sure that you lined the timing marks on both cams correctly. if not you could be running in circles. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

sorry its hard to break the car name habit. its my first truck. there is definitely no mistaking any ram for a car. .
