WTF is up??

Q: i had my 02 dakota in today for its 30000 mile transmission service. the dealer used atf+3 in it. the owners manual recommends atf+4 in the 45rfe trans. that is in my truck. when i questioned the service writer i was told that dodge now recommends atf+3. i have already e-mailed dodge and will hear back from then by wed. my main concern is that my 7yr/100mi. warranty is now shot. the 7/100 is the only reason a 02 dodge is in the driveway and not a 02 chey. has anyone heard of this change of mind from dodge .

sell it and buy a gasser. you let a diesel breath like that its going to get louder plain and simple. ive got an 02 ho diesel. purchased it stock and have put a 4 magnaflow exhaust on it as well as an afe cold air intake. i removed the silencer ring before the cold air intake but had to put it back in afterwards. loud!! my question is after the cold air intake was installed i seemed to lose some power why!! maybe im focusin on the newfound sound and havent really lost anything. that brings me to my second question. ive put the silencer ring back in dont get me wrong i like the sound but its too loud. any ideas .

tom i was interested in the type of kit that comes with a dash-mounted selector like the one from banks where you can run anywhere from stock to stupid ;-. its for a 2002 dodge 2500 with the cummins. i will be hauling a 30 jayco and all necessary camping gear and up to 3 sleds in the winter. kv what do you guys think of the diesel hop-up kits any down sides what do you know of pricing like any other performance products - theres lots to choose from. some good some bad. some are straight plug-n-play some are powerful enough that you will destroy your truck in short order if you dont know what youre doing. downsides are more wear and tear on drivetrain components warranty implications and the like. pricing can run anywhere from $300 for a used pressure box to over $15k for a complete racing package with just about any level in-between. what kind of truck do you have and what are you looking to do with it .

jay smith wrote am i reading this tsb wrong it says atf+4 is recommended for all chryslers except those listed above. well above it lists just about everything! it even lists my new 2004 durango that was factory filled with atf+4 and whose manuals specifies atf+4. my 2001 ram was also factory filled with atf+4 and specd as such. jay it doesnt really say that so as i said before read very carefully and check out your own vehicle. what it does say is it is recommended that all vehicles with chrysler automatic transmissions. recommended is the key word here. if your vehicle came from the factory with atf+3 then there is no need to change over unless you want to. once you make that change you cant go back. the list you refer to lists vehicles all the way back to 1989 and correct me if im wrong but atf+4 wasnt around then was it. my truck is a 1999 and came with atf+3 which is what i keep in it. having said that if your vehicle came with atf+4 and atf+3 was put in then you need to get the dealership to correct this right away because you in fact do need atf+4. make them pull up the tsb and read it in front of you then see what they say. if they still insist the atf+3 okay then i would find another dealer asap. jerry .
