dave if you want to change lifters you need to change the cam also as the cam and lifters need to wear into each other. and since you need to change the cam get a better cam from one of the aftermarket vendors or mopar performance and a new set of cam bearings. your pushrods and rockers should be fine unless you have extremely high mileage on the engine. -- budd cochran hello all i am looking for a new set of lifters and a intake gasket set for my 1987 dodge truck 318 motor. i might need to change the rockers and push rods as well. if any of you have such things kicking around and want to help out another fellow dodge lover.please let me know what you have and how much...must be reasonably priced. --- outgoing mail is certified virus free by avg and norton checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.534 / virus database 329 - release date 10/31/2003 .

hahahahahaha. hehehehehehehe where do you get this stuff while it makes sense not to use old lifters with a new cam or put the lifters in a different bore than they cam out of there is no valid reason that you cannot use new lifters with an old cam. the only risk is that if the cam is shot you probably just wasted the lifters but lifters are much cheaper than a cam and much easier to replace. by your reasoning a collapsed lifter would require a complete top end rebuild to correct lol. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving dave if you want to change lifters you need to change the cam also as the cam and lifters need to wear into each other. and since you need to change the cam get a better cam from one of the aftermarket vendors or mopar performance and a new set of cam bearings. your pushrods and rockers should be fine unless you have extremely high mileage on the engine.
