Q: my 88 had the same link to the rear spring. there was a enlongated slot with a bolt through it that could be adjusted that is what i refered to. dick wrote you can adjust it to give the max bias to the rear brakes. i set mine on min.on my 88 dakota after i put bigger 10 drums on it. it still had premature rear braking it needed the proper proportioning valve for 10 drums. two different animals .......... this valve is controlled by a rod and lever that corresponds to the height of the frame from the axle which would change with the load in the truck. .

did you check the ball joints with the spring load off of them if you dont jack at the proper point to take the load of the suspension system off of them they will only feel tight when they might be loose. also check with the wheels turned as maybe the wear is not in the straight ahead position. another thing would be to check the stering box and make sure it is not coming loose from the frame. i just bought a 1994 dakota the just had the stering box replaced because it literally fell off the frame while driving. something is wrong somewhere just have to look some more. ron .

yes but remember...............its all for the children........... todd we use the smoke generator on almost a daily basis. the new evaporative emissions systems are pretty finicky even the slightest leak will set a check engine light. your dealer will connect a smoke generator to your system and fill it will cool smoke and visually inspect for leaks. some of the components are located in places that are damned near impossible to see. hopefully your leak will be obvious and quick to correct. some of the more common sources of leaks that i have seen are the fuel cap evap purge solenoid and fuel pump module sealing ring. not a big deal really just a pita to do! ^ chryco service manager member sae fuel vapor leak is what they are checking for with the smoke test. anyone else been down this road thanks todd on my second trip back for engine light coming on. first try was ssuspected gas cap. repalced back on a week later. they are going to have to run a smoke test through it to find the leak. say the check system is too sensitive. not sure if they said vaccum or emmission leak - think emmsisions. anyone had this yet this is on a brand new 2400 milkes 2003 ram hemi. thanks todd .

gary glaenzer nobulltrans@mchsi.com wrote yes but remember...............its all for the children........... its got to make you stop and wonder which makes for more pollution; the evap leak or the smoke from all the smoke machines looking for the evap leaks .

have a question for the technicians in this group. bought a ram 1500 quad cab hemi and it didnt have the tow package. dealer is installing the tow package which includes the hitch platform wiring harness transmission cooler heavy duty fan and fan clutch. is there anything else needed to bring it up to towing specs i wanted a 2wd and those are not easy to find especially with the options we wanted. one of the items im not sure is already there is a transmission fluid temperature sensor. with the 02 sierra i had the system gage gave a warning if the fluid got too hot and put the engine in a reduced power mode. any information will be appreciated. the dealer has already coded the truck as having a tow package. hd in ny .
