ok youre not allowed to go to allpar. lol just kidding. im open to any ideas really. so far im not convinced its worth the price hike to change to k&n. can increased air flow and particle filtration go hand in hand on sat 24 jan 2004 165409 -0500 clem mygodisthereanamenotchosen@yahoo.com wrote hey all ive stuck my nose in where i probably shouldnt have and i used some of you folks arguments against k&n to no avail. http//www.allpar.com/forums/index.phpact=st&f=16&t=30365&st=0#entry214335 if ya wanna... help! because im certainly not speaking from experience there. lol is it possible to have equal filtration with larger media openings i dont see how..... what kind of filter is used to filter the air in most paint booths most use a depth filter that works on the same principal as the k & n. only difference is they run dry and attract dust by electrostatic action instead of being oiled to catch the dust. the most effective domestic heating system air filters are also depth filters. paper filters suck. they plug quickly are inefficient and in many cases ineffective. the best that can be said for them is they are cheap. .

roy wrote i would think that most have realized the much discussed wmd dont friggin exist. you dont know that for certain roy. you cant deny they once did exist and as to whether they are still there or have been moved out of the country is yet to be seen. the president can only do as good as the intelligence thats fed to him and you cant deny that us intelligence went to shit after 92. we are there for one thing oil. i disagree with you here if you are stating we are after iraqs oil either for free or at a cheaper price. certainly oil human rights democracy and what ever else some politician may want to tag onto the reason all play into the equation but stability in the entire region where our oil does come from is probable the main reason. saddam was simply to unstable to ignore any longer. why the hell do we have troops on the ground we have the ability to measure a guys dick from a sat. but we cant find a weapon we should have known where they were. hell we could find them in cuba in the 60s. i think the tech is a bit better now. hell that fool in libya was more unstable than saddam and we did not invade. saddam liked to murder his people. do i agree with what he did no! but should we have put troops on the ground to stop it no!! but i will support those troops. why because it isnt popular and that fruit loop on pa ave hasnt dreamed up scheme to get us involved well if you dont like the fruit loop as you call him up there now you have a half dozen retards on the other side to choose from. well at least when kerry puts on a uniform he wont have to rent it. roy .

From : paul johnson

come on roy you know better than thinking just because someone wore a uniform that they okay. kerry was really supportive of the troops when he came home and threw his medals away in demonstration huh. i see he likes to brag about his military service now if it gets him votes jerry please be careful how you word your message. i know what you are trying to say and i may even agree with you but political rants can and will be used against you in public forums in any way possible. im not trying to single you out of the crowd but merely advising you of the possible implications of your debate. ok. enough bullshit. just because somebody wears a uniform it doesnt make him an expert on every facet of world peace or war. if he has not worn the uniform he is even more dangerous. its like wiping your ass. either you have done it and have a feel for it or you are clueless and fumbling around in the dark. if somebody was directing me to do it i would prefer that they have done it before and know what kind of shit to expect. .

i have seen this happen before and is why i suggested disabling it. there is a part in the transmission called the manual lever that this switch rides on. the part that the switch rides in is probably either bent or worn out and needs to be replaced. sometimes a linkage adjustment will put the neutral safety switch on a different part and allow it to work again but yours seems to be pretty far gone. i dont know what is involved in its replacement and will leave that to those that know more about them such as john gary or max. good luck. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving okay got it! heres what i found. i adjusted the linkage no help; i tested the switch it was fine; i shorted the switch and it starts every time. fella at the dodge dealer said the linkage cable must be stretched beyond adjustability. guess ill leave it bypassed and be really really careful. thanks all -mac short out the neutral safety switch for a while and see if the problem goes away. just remember not to turn the key to start in gear. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving nuetral is the same story as park sometimes yes but most the time no dice. thanks though try the neutral position if it works it may be only a bit of linkage adjustment to fix your situation. mike hi folks ive been dealing with this for a while and im very frustrated. 1992 dodge w150 318 magnum auto trans most of the time when i turn the key nothing happens its just dead. after running the gear selector all the way up and down anywhere from one to ten times and back to park it will start. sometimes i have to do this a few times before it will start. about a week ago the problem went away completely starting every time on the first try. yesterday it came back with a vengeance but i havent been stranded yet. i had the neutral safety switch replaced the ignition cylinder key slot and the starter. each fix seemed to help but only for a couple days maybe placebo effect. im thinking now that maybe the shift linkage is out of adjustment but the manual only states that the truck may start in gear no mention of starting problems. anyone have any thoughts thanks much -mac ps if you wish to email remove whatapain from the address otherwise posting is fine. .

anyone here have any idea what would cause a 5.2l ram to constantly burn holes in air filters ive replaced filters 4 times due to a hole being blasted into them from the egr valve into the airbox. now the truck will only run for 10 miles and die so im wondering if these problems are related or not. also what kind of constant voltage should be getting to the fuel pump id rather make sure its really bad before i do a frame-off resto trying to find out what is actually wrong with this thing. i did have codes scanned but everytime it dies it throws out a different code so i really cant go on those either. anyway even before all this trouble started the motor did have a bad habit of burning a hole in the air filter so im wondering if an already existing problem is just progressing. tia for pointers! i do know that the original owner of this truckelderly only drove it in the city and said it never seen 60mph the whole time he had it so im wondering if thats got something to do with the filter problem. it had 27k on it when i bought it. 49k on it now. .

my baby needs new boots.i was going to go with bfg ats but i have looked at the michelin xps traction.with hunting and fishing the truck sees a lot of big rock gravel.has anybody used these xpss or any other suggestions welcome. yes i have bf goodrich a/ts and love them lots. excellent tires. they are on a 99 4x4 yukon gas. my friend has a 1996 i think ram 3/4 ton with the cummins. he lives on the farm does lots of gravel driving and runs bf goodrich mud terrains. they are quite new. a month or so ago he put a stone clear through the middle of the lug and punctured the tire. that is a lot of solid rubber for a stone to go through... those cummins are heavy so i would choose carefully. .

tbone wrote tbone wrote you should have looked for two way tickets. i know that it sounds funny but two way tickets sell for much less than one way. a one way ticket from nc to nj was over $500 while a two way to the same airports with a saturday stay over was about $260 so i bought the two way and discarded the return ticket. one way tickets are also security flags. be ready for a thorough search wear clean underwear! which in itself is a pointless act since buying the two way is cheaper and that is what most people who fly often or do any serious research tend to do. i would think that a serious terrorist would be doing some serious research before getting on the plane. pointless i agree. i flew my daughter to philadelphia last summer on a one way ticket. they told me at the ticket counter that was a security flag. she was searched. .

redneck tookover hell wrote i have a 99 cummins with an automatic. its rated at 215 hp and 420 ft-lbs torque. it pulls my torino around like its not even back there. i would think the 03 standard output would tow your car very nicely. thats true as long as you stay with an open car trailer. you add an enclosed trailer of 28 feet or so and the support equipment for a race car throw in a few hills and that standard output starts lacking. thats a very good point but i still think he will be fine with the s.o. his earlier post was asking about v-10 fuel mileage and said he was replacing his 92 w250 with a 360. power didnt seem to be a problem in his earlier post but its up to al to decide whats right for him. it just seems like everyone thinks the s.o. is a bad motor just because there is something more powerful out there. well let everyone think that. find a dealer that has the s.o. on the lot and none of the h.o.s. see if the salesman offers you a great deal on the bad one. .

on thu 29 jan 2004 191609 -0600 mike simmons mikesim@fidnet.com wrote that info also appears in everyones owners manual. as a further point it is the transmission temp that is monitored not the engine temp. chryco service manager member sae mike isnt there also some issue with transmission drain down for lack of a better term that is best cured by sitting at idle in neutral for about 30 seconds to a minute leaving the vehicle in park doesnt cure the problem symptoms are that the vehicle wont move for several seconds after placing it into drive or reverse if the vehicle has been sitting for several days. greg .

hi group-- hello! been away for while need some advice... my 82 w150 318 2 bbl 105k miles ran out of gas a while back. filled er with gas changed the fuel filter and went on my way. truck died after running 15 minutes. replaced the fuel pump check the line between the carb and the pump--was clean. truck will fire right up cold but dies still after 15 minutes. let it sit a while starts up dies after 15 minutes. any ideas where to start looking for the problem maybe someone pulled a prank and wired a timer in-line some where! thanks! cordobaman seems to me that somthing is getting hot shutting ya down until it cools. sounds like a vapor lock where are you located. did you move a fuel line how many fuel filters in it or it could be a ignition problem. roy .

the m880s were mostly raggedy already in 79 when i went in the army and was a blessing when we finally got rid of them in the mid to late 1980s. 41k miles in the military is more like 140k in terms of wear & tear. good luck with your project. keep us posted to make a long story short the wifey had an absolute fit when i started to agree to accept $23500 for my rubicon. said we would keep it for haley before giving it away so it looks like the rubicon is a keeper since it only appears to be worth anything to us. ill still be getting the diesel but only after we get passed this coming tax season. in the meantime i happened across a retired 76 m880 1 1/4 ton dodge 4x4 with 41000 original miles for $1000 and i couldnt walk away from it. the v8/tranny/full time 4x4 transfer case also with low lock and even high lock/dana 70 rear/dana 60 front @4.10 gears will work out perfectly under a cj7/8 project jeep. pics of the beast are at http//7slotgrille.com/forum/topic.asptopicid=967 im not really sure if id rather shorten the frame of this truck and adapt a cj body to it or transplant the running gear over on the cj but either way there is much fun to come. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .
