Update on Sentry II Alarm 04 1500

Q: this is an update to a previous post. see below. when i got my truck back everything was fine except the evs ii sentry only half worked. the imobilizer locked out the starter but the system would not arm. turns out that dealer add on kit that i had to force them to order and install had misinformation in the instructions. the instructions were written for 2003 and not for 2004. dodge changed the wiring scheme in 04 along with the placement of a couple connectors on the back of the instrument panel. this required my service tech to get it straightened out with dodge tech support. so after two trips back to the dealer and them spending about three hours extra time it finally works. they didnt charge anymore for their additional efforts. without the wiring schematic and help from technical support this is not a mod i would recommend for do-it yourselfers. besides you have to go to the dealer anyway for them to activate the system anyway. btw anybody care to guess how much a leather front seat for an 04 1500 goes for larry ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------- below is a copy of the previous post. i just asked my dealer to install evsii on my new ram. it is at the dealer getting repaired. after being stolen the first week i had it.lock the barn door. i asked this group about their opinions and didnt get much help. so i ordered it through the dealer and they put it on. the estimate for labor and cutting the keys was $65. the upgrade kit from keyless entry to sentry was $200. i had to do some talking and research on my own to convince the dealer that it was the right part. when the parts manager asked one of the techs he said sure comes as a complete kit and more or less just plugs in. but you do have to have the dealer make the keyes. i dont know how involved it is to do yourself but for me $65 was worth it to have it done while it was already at the dealer. you can order this cheaper through www.dodgeparts.com at https//www.dodgeparts.com/catalog/index.php/cpath/3367oscsid=28c28715c0e42b823b19d4b8bf5bf476 i just got a new ram 1500 and would like to add the sentry ii alarm. has anyone done this and how involved is it as far as i can tell it is just a module that plugs in somewhere under the dash. do i have to dissasemble the dash to get to the connector and do i have to install any antenna wires for the transmitter key i would think you would have to get the coded keys cut to fit my lock cylinder. any info would be appreciated. scott .
