UPDATE 1999' RAM "Speed Sensor Malfunction"
From : ignoramus32489
Q: did you check to make sure that you dont have a second one on the transmission -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i replaced the speed sensor today using an identical one that i bought at autozone. unfortunately replacing it had no effect and the speed dial still acts erratically. it shows zero at low speeds and starts showing speed at high speeds 40+ mph. any clues i .

its not the 1 mile to and from thats gonna kill the transmission its the full-stall start on a ramp with no forward speed to help cool it on 14 jun 2005 115414 -0700 hubmachineatgmail.com hubmachine@gmail.com wrote mac thanks for your reply. i was wondering if i might need a transmission cooler. what size would you recommend the boat is on a dual axle trailer twin 115 outboards. would you recommend a brand cliff hubbard wow thats a lot of boat! the trailer must weight about what my boat did.. lol like some others have said if youre only hauling it 1 mile each way i dont think you need a cooler... the problem would be your initial tow to bring it home... and it might be cheaper to rent a truck or borrow a friends and fill the tank than t add something to your truck that you dont need..ymmv mac please remove splinters before emailing .

i would check that first. you really need to determine what conditions the noise occurs and where it is coming from. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving tbone wrote are you sure that it is the tranny and not the rear axle. no not really. assumption on my part. gary .

most auto parts store will not take back electrical items at least not the ones that i worked at. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving did you check to make sure that you dont have a second one on the transmission the output speed sensor in the trans wouldnt make the abs/brake lights illuminate nor make the speedo fluctuate. it may set a code but thats it. um thats the one that i replaced! is there a second one somewhere else you replaced the wrong one... in the previous thread at least two of us told you it was the one in the rear diff. hopefully the people at autozone are friendly and will take the incorrect sensor back. .
