Two problems with 99 Ram 4x4

From : steve k

Q: hi just found this group. i bought a used 1999 ram 4x4 last year and notice a clunking noise in the steering column when going around corners both sharp corners and long corners. it feels like someone is lightly tapping on the steering column. kind of worried me at first then i just chalked it up to the way they made the truck. anyone here of this ive never had a dodge before love it by the way... problem number two is the check engine light. its been coming on and off sporadicallyquite frequently. it used to come on when id fill the tank up as full as i could get it and the light would go away when the tank would get down to about half full. now it doesnt so that anymore it just comes on when the tank is half full and goes away about 100 miles later. i know this may be completely unrelated to the gas tank and i will be taking it in to get it checked but figured id ask here for any suggestions. thanks steve .
