imho turning rotors is a waste of money if they are warped replace them if they are not warped just break the glaze with hd sand paper.dont be concerned with grooving will not inhibit braking. on thu 8 jul 2004 201537 -0600 greg dontspamgregkainz@comcastremove.net wrote what are you all seeing for prices to turn the front rotors on the 2500 4x4 either on or off the truck any recommendations for the denver area thanks greg .

for the prices ive found to turn them $200-$300 it looks like i can replace them a whole lot cheaper. theyre warped and i was hoping for a fairly ecomical solution without a lot of work to get rid of the shudder and pedal bounce... if i have to disassemble the front end and remove the rotors in order to get them turned for a reasonable price i might as well put new rotors on and be done with it for a while...looks like its new rotors for ol smokey next weekend. ive never worried about grooving ... thanks. greg imho turning rotors is a waste of money if they are warped replace them if they are not warped just break the glaze with hd sand paper.dont be concerned with grooving will not inhibit braking. on thu 8 jul 2004 201537 -0600 greg dontspamgregkainz@comcastremove.net wrote what are you all seeing for prices to turn the front rotors on the 2500 4x4 either on or off the truck any recommendations for the denver area thanks greg .

or get a diesel/manual tr./and exhaust brake and brake wear problems go away. in april and may i did a 6000 mile road trip and very seldom had to use my foot brake except for a complete stop and this was a 1 ton dually carrying 4500# of slide in camper and towing 3500# toad with at least 1000# of beer in the bed of it. i will have to admit that i had to get down into 3rd a few times in the mountains of ca. but slowing down was no problem with the exhaust brake coming down a long mountain you just set the cruise and the eb does the rest. on sun 11 jul 2004 223516 -0600 greg dontspamgregkainz@comcastremove.net wrote or quit draggin a 7500# trailer up and down the mountains but then i wouldnt need the truck any more... or not drive and brake it like its a sports car. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving if you turn a warped rotor it will just warp again quicker due to it being thinner. new is you best choice imho. what you might want to do is go to a different pad. on sat 10 jul 2004 150812 -0600 greg dontspamgregkainz@comcastremove.net wrote for the prices ive found to turn them $200-$300 it looks like i can replace them a whole lot cheaper. theyre warped and i was hoping for a fairly ecomical solution without a lot of work to get rid of the shudder and pedal bounce... if i have to disassemble the front end and remove the rotors in order to get them turned for a reasonable price i might as well put new rotors on and be done with it for a while...looks like its new rotors for ol smokey next weekend. ive never worried about grooving ... thanks. greg imho turning rotors is a waste of money if they are warped replace them if they are not warped just break the glaze with hd sand paper.dont be concerned with grooving will not inhibit braking. on thu 8 jul 2004 201537 -0600 greg dontspamgregkainz@comcastremove.net wrote what are you all seeing for prices to turn the front rotors on the 2500 4x4 either on or off the truck any recommendations for the denver area thanks greg .

well it is a diesel altho an auto tranny ... how well does a jake brake work with an auto box without an aftermarket electronic transmission controller it doesnt. without the torque converter locked up an exhaust brake is next to useless and quite hard on transmission fluid. .
