Q: youve not seen much. for about 50 years trucks had a flat metal bar that pinned the tire against the bottom of the bed with an underengineered and clumsy way to fasten it to the frame. thats what this 1980 had on it. same as a 1950 or a 1996. these are thoroughly impractical to use and im not sure why they were ever made. i have taken to hauling a spare in the back of the truck but it does get in the way. you are correct that the datsun chain hoist was the best design ever. im not sure when it came out but the first one i ever saw was a 1967 model. first japanese vehicle i ever saw period. i was a little kid. used to crank it up and down just for the pure joy of it. on sat 28 feb 2004 071751 +0000 nehmo sergheyev wrote 1980 ford z ton pick-up does anybody have any recommendations how to make a spare tire holder ive given up finding one at the junk yards and i dont like the in-the-bed or on-the-grill solutions. i want it under the bed behind the differential where its supposed to be. id like to be able to access it relatively quickly a hinged holder perhaps because if i do get a flat it may not happen where theres a nice shoulder. all of the uder-bed holders ive seen involve some sort of winch. ford has an absolutely horrible design - a greased cable that picks up all sorts of dirt kinks and generally is good for one tire change in adverse conditions. youre lucky if the thing winds back up after changing a tire. datsun now nissan used to have an open chain winch on their 1980s vintage trucks that was the best. never jammed never failed. see if you can find one of those. --kamus -- o | if youre old eat right and ride a decent bike. / | q. | usenet posting .

yea that was the one. it looks like the pilot misjudged the movement of the ship and missed the pad. it looked to me like the rear gear slipped off of the edge of the pad and possibly got hung up on something. when the pilot tried to give it lift to stop from sliding completely off of the back of the ship the hung gear turned her on her side and dumped them into the water. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving http//www.webmutants.com/strategypage/chopper.wmv was that the one it looked to me that they werent on the pad right and decided to try to make it right--just one last time. which link was that i browsed the site and didnt see it. --mike did you see the helicopter crash on that sight wtf was up with that looked almost like a touch and go until it went over the side. roy .

hell anything that looks half decent and runs well is worth 1500 bucks. i hope you dont think your dad is trying to rip you off. you know where he lives g. i had great luck with my 95 5.9l 2500 4x4 long bed. the dealer gave me 4700 bucks for it when i traded it for my 03. i think youre doing ok. --mike hello all i decided to go with a dodge this time after many good years with chevies. the main issue i had with my s-10s were head gasket not goodstarters and brakes. my s10 blazer ate up brake pads often. anyway i am picking up a 94 ram and i was wondering what the quirks are with this it has the 318 motor. i put 150000 on my last 318 i owned so i am guessing i will have great luck with this one as well. this truck has 106000 miles on it. do these things still have the ballest resistor on it how about that funky oil pressure sending unit that takes a special socket how do the trannies hold up in these things anything else i need to know about this truck any recalls although it doesnt have a lot of options it has the long bed ac good body and interior. the brakes and tires are new. i am paying $1500.00 for it. is that a reasonable price my dad is selling it to me. this will be my second mopar. i had a 72 dart as well. that was a great car. anyway any thoughts or suggestions about this truck would be appreciated. regards michael fell .

i think that they missed the pad and hung the rear gear on the rail. when he tried to give it lift the rear gear flipped it up and over. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving did you see the helicopter crash on that sight wtf was up with that looked almost like a touch and go until it went over the side. roy .

it sounds like a bad belt. only when the engine runs slow will you hear it. spraying wd-40 will not hurt the belt. it should stop the squeaking but will not last long. you could spray wd40 in bearing area but i would worry about overspray on the belt. you should try some spary belt dressing on the belt both sides to see if it quietens or use the crayon trick i did. this will tell you if it is belt or bearing. if beaing you should be able to pinpoint it. try a piece of small diameter tubing about 2 feet long. put one end in your ear and search with the open end. if you narrow down to a bearing use a long screwdriver on the non-moving bearing bolt and press your ear against the screwdriver. youll be amazed at the types of noises you can hear.... bearing heading south -- fmb only one b in fmb hi all ive got a 99 doge grand caravan es 3.8l. the problem i have is a load continuous squealing sound coming from around the belt area when im not accelerating or at a standstill. ive had a mechanic check the belts etc to see whats causing the annoying squeal. he said the belts/tension and everything looks good and that a piece of crud or something has got stuck somewhere around the belts/pulleys and that it will probably disappear by itself over time. but it seems to be getting louder and even more annoying and i want to know if there would be any harm in me trying to spray some lubricant wd-40 or similar around the pulley shaft areas. thoughts about other possible causes and remedies would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. jitendra .

you dont have to tell me about rough roads i live in northern ontario canada. we dont have pot holes up here we have places where the road is missing. not uncommon to see potholes 6-10 deep and 12-16 around and that is one of the good roads. thats why we all drive 4x4 trucks up here kevin my odometer just rolled 2500 kms hit a pothole and my radio quit. not so bad though now i can listen to the hemi. kevin my 2003s radio died while we were on a camping trip just after i got the truck maybe 4000 miles. dodge was pretty good about it and replaced the radio at a dealership far from where i bought the truck. the way it went it scared the crap out of me though. the led display dimmed and then went out. no other lights went. i pulled the radio fuse out and it looked good so i put it back in. when i got in the truck and turned the key wisps of smoke could be seen escaping the dash. i turned the key off and the smoke didnt stop. i jumped out and yanked the fuse as fast as i could. while i was waiting for the new radio about three days--there was a hole in my dash while we were camping i checked out the wiring and saw nothing to be worried about. the dealership of course said that they didnt see anything wrong with the wiring either. the new radio works fine and i havent had a problem with it. i have a feeling that the problem was vibration caused even though automotive vibration specs are among the worst in the electronics industry. i have to drive up i-110 from the la harbor every day and the semis that drive that interstate have just beat the living crap out of the road. cal-trans the california department of transportation has shaved a lane or two flat in the past and those lanes are smooth but the whole road needs to be shaved. my truck and i shake pretty bad every day. makes you wish for a traffic jam sometimes. .
