yonzie wrote the dealership got to look at it this afternoon found the problem to be the fuel lift pump. now they have to order one dont know when it will be in. youre the first one ive heard that had a lift pump go out on the new models. they were common failures on my model 1999 year but supposedly some changes were made to make the pumps more reliable. ive even heard of a few people carrying a spare with them as it is a road side repair if needed. you might give the nearest cummins dealer a call as they would most likely have the pump and at a much lower price than the dealer. jerry .

the dealership got to look at it this afternoon found the problem to be the fuel lift pump. now they have to order one dont know when it will be in. those friggin lift pumps have been a problem forever. usually at least on 2k the injector pump would keep it running and you wouldnt get stranded. the thing with the lp is that it provides enough extra fuel to cool the ip. hopefully it didnt get damaged.you might want to get a fuel pressure gauge installed so you can keep an eye on things in the future. to speed things up you might want to call a cummins dealer and see if they have a pump in stock. it might shorten the down time. roy .

its all about the money dale. it costs money to keep parts lying around and although that particular part may be a problem for the diesel the percentage of diesel trucks sold compared to gas is still to low to waste space to stock that type of part. it could be months before it is needed and that wastes money that could be spent on an item with a faster turn around higher profit. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving roy@home.net wrote the dealership got to look at it this afternoon found the problem to be the fuel lift pump. now they have to order one dont know when it will be in. those friggin lift pumps have been a problem forever. usually at least on 2k the injector pump would keep it running and you wouldnt get stranded. the thing with the lp is that it provides enough extra fuel to cool the ip. hopefully it didnt get damaged.you might want to get a fuel pressure gauge installed so you can keep an eye on things in the future. to speed things up you might want to call a cummins dealer and see if they have a pump in stock. it might shorten the down time. roy the dealership where the truck is now didnt know when the pump will be in. i phoned the service manager where i bought the truck from asked them if they had one in stock. they didnt have one. i guess chrysler doesnt like handing them out. they only send them out when someone needs one. dont make sense if the pumps where a problem i would make sure id have a couple spare ones on my shelf. .
