Truck Maintenance - What's next?

Q: hey guys my dakota quad cab just passed 42000 miles and is giving a little buck now and then. my dads old 79 chevy pickup used to do this under heavy load but this is the first time its happened to me in the dakota tried some stp and changed air filter but it still bucked today. is it time to change the fuel filter had a tuneup at 36000 miles new plugs trans. fluid changed etc... . is it time to have the coolant flushed ive tried to keep the truck in good shape following the recommended maintenance guidelines. what could i have overlooked .
