Q: brian wrote today driving at a steady highway speed 99 dodge pickup i experienced a problem with my cummins diesel engine which if it had of been a gas engine i would have called it a high speed miss . the truck seemed to loose a bit of power when going up a slight incline. the problem seemed to disappear but again on an incline the miss was somewhat evident. i will take the truck in to the dealer as soon as possible. i did open the water collection valve and the problem is still there. about 60000 miles on the engine now. any ideas the crankshaft position sensor may be bad. interesting thought as the crankshaft positioning sensor was replaced a couple of months ago. the warning then was a check engine light. the fact that the miss is not consistent concerns me that they will not be able to determine the exact problem. i will respond once i get the truck fixed. thanks to all who offered ideas .

homebrewer wrote the trucks that came with 265/70s from the factory must have some kind of chip or gear to make the speedo accurate. is this changeable by me what does it cost its done by having the dealer flash the computer. or you can do as i do pay it no never mind as it will be off only 3-4%. jerry .

it was the lift pump expensive little devil! are they still around $140.00 at 60000 miles you are ahead of the game. it would probably a good idea to get a fuel pressure gauge roy .

i wasnt looking to pull anybody out in reverse...i was looking to be pulled out! i imagine a winch would probably be the best way to go if i really get in a jam but i thought the hooks would at least be something substanial if there is anyone around that can help out. as far as cutting out the cowling in front david...there are actually two plastic knockouts where the hooks go. they are in between the metal and plastic parts of the bumper. have you checked back with the dealer i havent but that might be my next move. i wish i would of thought about it earlier and just had them put on when i bought the truck...i guess i just got too excited about everything else! .

willis harkness wrote i have a 2004 dodge 2500 w/the cummins t-600 off-road 4x4 package. i have had the truck up to 90 mph with no vibration but the brake dust is a lot. i was a ford owner for over 25 years and i had an expendition that ford could not fix. so screw ford! i have about 500 miles on the 05 2500 4x4 qc sb cummins. dodge and cummins seem to have come a long way from my 2k. dont see any real need to bomb it. it accelerates nicely handles predictably. the interior has some nice touches. the under console storage and the under rear seat flat floor thing is pretty cool. body fit is good no wind noise. the only thing not to like is a vibration/drone at 65mph that can be addressed and the usual tons of brake dust. roy just had an f150 not mine burn up in my apt. complex parking lot the other night. started in the cruise control module. took 2 other vehicles with it. im glad my truck was parked in my garage. you couldnt pay me to buy a ford. f-flash o-over r-really d-destroys .

i want to install my xm radio using the hard wire kit which plugs into the xm roady 2 unit and also plugs between the 2004 dodge radio. since the last time i installed a radio in a car a few years ago things have changed. where one plugs the regular radios antenna into the back of the radio the connectors are different. i need to obtain some adapters which will change both the trucks radio and the end of the trucks antenna cable back to the old fashioned type. any ideas i dont know why dodge or mother chrysler had to change them in the first place. .

hi i have a 75 power wagon. with a tape measurer you can set the toe your self. since the steering is controlled by the left side spindle the toe should be simple to set. all you have is the tie rod adjustment. the caster and camber are set by hydraulically or mechanically bending you axle tubes. a place hear in san diego called el cajon frame and axle bent my axle to specs and then welded a truss to the bottom of the axle to keep it set. a lot of places say they can adjust your wheels. one of them is sears. a 4x4 front alignment is quite a bit more money. here is the irony. all they set is tow. they cant do the axle bending as they dont have the proper machinery or experience. why the high price i dont know. if you cant do the job why do you charge like you can winston is like this also. so are several other places that do alignment. you have to take it to a frame and axle specialty service. you should be able to find a reputable place. mine seems indestructable now. my tires wear real good now. i never have to set anything. good luck to you. jessie steve wrote the story 1988 dodge power ram 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup. excessive camber toe out on left front tire. i stood down the street about 50 feet in front of my truck when it was parked on level pavement and i held a one foot long ruler in front of me and sighted it up to the line of the front axle housing. the axle housing looks to be slightly bent downward. also the left front tire is toed out. the truck drives just fine and its not making any noises vibrations nor is handling or cornering a problem. my questions are perhaps the axle tube is bent or perhaps the steering mechanisms are bent if the axle housing is bent and its not causing any driving difficulties would it be safe to drive this truck for the short term until i could get it repaired .
