Travel Trailer charger lead? 98 Dodge 1/2 ton.

From : oz

Q: partial tow package factory installed. there is a 40 amp fuse in the power dist. box that is marked as trailer that leads to the trailer relay which is also in the power dist. box. from the relay there is a 12 ga. black with orange wire that i am assuming is the charging lead going into the main harness. any ideas where this wire terminates. im working from a 99 service manual but those colors match up. they show a red/orange wire coming straight from the 40a fuse and a black/orange going through the trailer tow relay terminating at the trailer tow connector with a splice in each. those splices are located inside the drivers side frame rail underneath the crossmember for the spare tire carrier. the rd/or is a fused b+ connection - the bk/or from the relay is for your trialer lights relay is switched by the parking lamp circuit. some other wires that you may find back in those wire bundles brown/red - right turn signal violet/black - reverse lights light blue - trailer brake output black - ground two of em dark green/red - left turn curiously the service manual shows a 10-pin 5x2 connector. im assuming they plug into this with a mating connector and pigtail that then goes to the 7-way trailer connector. .

miles i believe you and i have had discussions in the past that were fairly non-productive. mainly because youre quick to start labeling. i.e. liberal insert adjective here. i hope that wont be the case here. btw in acse you forgot ... im not a democrat/liberal although i believe you have accused me of such. on to the issue at hand price per barrel is down from a few weeks ago ... yes demand for diesel is down due to warming weather ... yes why then is the price at the pump remaining constant its awfully coincidental that dc gm and ford do not have a decent lineup of diesel/alternative energy vehicles to market ... wouldnt you say although i doubt tbone can prove his theory there is no doubt that oil companies and vehicle manufacturers are in bed together. its self preservation. his theory is not too terribly far fetched imo. i am also interested in knowing why oil companies rake in record profits during times when ppb not demand is increasing. that makes no sense ... unless they artificially inflating the price in their favor for insert your favorite conspiracy theory here. were all getting bent over by the oil companies without the godamn common courtesy of a reach-around. ; craig c. .

hawkeye65 wrote anybody know where i can get an oil filter relocation kit for a 2003 4.7l magnum qaud-cab 4x4 dodge 1500 thanks in advance hawkeye65 the 4.7l uses the same short filter as the 5.2 and 5.9. fortunately it has the same base as a small block ford. so a block adapter for a ford will fit the dodge. most parts you see - like perma-cool and transdapt - are cast alum. they are pretty well know for cracking and leaking. the hoses that come with these kits are also pretty crappy and wont last more than a year without leaking. guess how i know this what you want is a billet alum block adapter and filter boss. use russell -10 or -12 push on line and fittings 2 straight and 2 90* swivel. use a purolater pro-1 or mobile 1 filter for a small block ford. go to www.fortesparts.com mike forte has all the parts you need provides excellent service and very competitive prices. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

i have a dodge ram 1500. almost a year ago the service engine light came on. took it the local dodge dealer which said it was a transmission problem. now even though the service engine came on and since i bought it the truck ran excellent. it shifted correctly no bumps grinds bangs nothing. the dealer said it was a pump and a torque convertor. they replaced them. the service engine light did not come on when i went to get the truck. it started and seemed to run ok for a little while and then when i went to speed up from 40mph there was a shudder in the transmission. then when i stopped at a stoplight and then went about a block and slowed to stop again there was a clunk like the transmisson was either trying to shift up or down. several weeks later with the truck in and out of the dealership shop for sometimes a couple of days and other times for more than a week they moved the shudder up to 55 mph. and then the transmissions started doing other things. the dealership gave up and told me not to come back. and you just accepted that youre generously a pushover or ungenerously a damned fool like when you speed up from a stop light it will shift from 1st to 2nd at about 10mph. a steady speed up and the turck will not shift into 3rd until you let up on the gas. less than 40mph it will down shift. and it will not shift into 4th until it gets to 52 mph. once the speed drops down to 50 mph it will downshift even if you are coasting downa hill. below 40mph it will downshift again. i put up with it from august last year until a couple of months ago. another dodge dealer contacted me about trading trucks and when i told him about the problems i am having with this one. he said he could fix it. he had it 6 weeks and 3 days. when i got the truck back he fixed the clunk and he fixed the shudder but it will not shift right. he gave up. is there anyone on this group who has had a similar problem like this the last dealer said they rebuilt the transmission from scratch and it still wont shift right. .

oz wrote thanks for the info tom. so are you saying the bl/or is not the charging lead seeing as it is a heavier gauge wire i thought that was what it would be for. i think it would have been easier if the truck had no package installed at all. for example i traced the light blue elec. brake wire and it ended in the drivers side front wheel well. thanks for the help oz tom lawrence yours might be wired like the 97. read the messages on this page http//www.dodgeram.org/tech/mods/electric/trailerwire.htm .
