Transmisson Challenge - Ram 2500 quad cab

Q: i have 27k on a 2003 ram2500 5.9 diesel. signs and symptoms 1. check engine light appears for a split second and goes off once per day. 2. automatic shifts soft from 2-3 gear and sometimes hard. varies from time to time. 3. transnmission neutralized one time under acceleration when towing a 5ver that was 2000 lbs. under the truck tow rating. one shop suggested a trans selenoid may be at fault but couldnt check codes. will be checking in to dealer about warranty in a few days. any ideas .

1. check engine light appears for a split second and goes off once per day. are you sure its the orange check engine light thats shaped like an engine and not the red check gauges light the check gauges flashing is a known problem with a tsb issued that requires a reflash of the instrument cluster controller. .
