Transmission/driveshaft noise 2006 Ram
From : topcop
Q: 2006 dodge ram 1500 with 3000 miles. anytime the shifter is put into park a loud clunk is heard from the transmission/driveshaft area as if someone were hitting it with a small hammer. the dealer said this is normal but it does not sound normal nor does it do it every time. anyone have or know of a similar problem if so what was the remedy thanks .

it was a fairly short distance and for the most part it was down hill. i dont think i went over 30 during it either. what is the purpose and name of the hose that fell off it was located right below the tensioner and looks like it comes out from the bottom of the radiator and attaches to the engine. id like to know the name in case when i get in there it looks like it was damaged and i can pick up a new one. thanks! by the way what does op stand for not always true because with no coolant present it may not show temp properly and some part of heads can quickly reach 500 degrees and more when no coolant is present while other areas stay cooler which can lead to warpage. cracks and blown head gaskets. he needs to have someone more knowledable inspect it a bit. first off i said may not have problems. second i also noted if the distance was truly short. these blocks can take a lot more than the chevies you grew up with. not ssying its indestructable just saying if what he says is very close to fact hell have a good chance of getting away with one. as to the inspection ya know what the tech is gonna do put coolant in it and see if itll run. pretty much exactly what the op is gonna do only the op probably wont charge himself $59.95 an hour to do it. -- max there are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty soap ballot jury and ammo. please use in that order. -ed howdershelt author on mon 17 apr 2006 203850 gmt max dodge max340@verizon.net wrote depends on a number of things but if the distance was truly short and the guage never read hot you may have little or no problems. not always true because with no coolant present it may not show temp properly and some part of heads can quickly reach 500 degrees and more when no coolant is present while other areas stay cooler which can lead to warpage. cracks and blown head gaskets. he needs to have someone more knowledable inspect it a bit. ----------------- the snoman www.thesnoman.com .

ok i have to say this has me worried a little. i have a 91 dakota that i usually take to pennzoil for oil change air filter etc. one of the last times i took it there they drained all the oil out and told me to start er up i always stay in the car while they do the work. when i asked if they had put oil back in they looked dumbfounded. but back to topic i had them to change the trans fluid and occasionally the truck wont go into over drive. what do i need to do to halt any further damage! take it to a dealer/professional and have them flush it thanks matt just keep driving it and before you get 10000 miles on that fluid you will know you made a mistake. shifts will get slower than it will not want to go into overdrive. then a few grand for a rebuild.pay a few hundred now or a few thousand later. .
