whenever the shifter is put in park from any other position a loud clunk is heard from the transmission/driveshaft area. just to clarify... youd come to a stop in drive foot on brake shift into park then hear the clunk if so youre probably just hearing the park pawl engaging... its a spring-loaded rod so if the alignment is just slightly off ie. not perfectly aligned and not so mis-aligned that the pawl wont engage until the vehicle rolls a bit then it will clunk as it engages. are we talking boot kicking a tire type of clunk or more of a sledge hammer striking the frame kind of noise .

you should not hear a clunk going into park. under any circimstance if that truck is a standard pickup. and..... i dont care what tom says. fact.....not fiction. except of course if the truck actually has the required backlash in the gears. if it has that itll have a clunk when it goes into park at some point or another. there has to be a small amount of play in the drivetrain i dont care what mm says. -- max there are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty soap ballot jury and ammo. please use in that order. -ed howdershelt author topcop wrote whenever the shifter is put in park from any other position a loud clunk is heard from the transmission/driveshaft area. the dealer said this is normal even though it doesnt happen every time. but the noise it makes does not sound normal. anyone have any info thanks ========= ========= you should not hear a clunk going into park. under any circimstance if that truck is a standard pickup. and..... i dont care what tom says. fact.....not fiction. marshmonster sips his mushroom tea....takes a drag off his bong.....mmmm......this is good stuff .

park should not clunk so loud you think its coming from the tranny reverse can sitting on reverse for a split second to long and jaming it into park like a bat out of hell can clunk. otherwise drive another dodge at the dealership shift the crazy way you do now and see it if makes the same clunk then you will know if the dealer is being straight with you. .
