Q: dave davis wrote i have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 quadcab with 5.7l hemi. it has a free flow exhaust muffler and a k&n air filter which replaced the original filter. i purchased a hypertech programmer iii and after using it i have not noticed any increase in performance. what are some of the things i can do to increase performance and horsepower so i do not waste any more of my money been throwing money in wrong direction. low restriction exhausr will reduce low and mid range torque not increase it. part of the problem is the engine itself and its power band because its torque peaks above 4000 rpm. if you want to reall perk it up install 4.10s with stock tires or some 4.56s if you are running 33s or so and some 4.88s with 35s. that will give you what you seek big time and likely improve town mpg too and about same or better depending on current setup on road in od. -- ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .
