Transmission Problems..Dodge Ram 1500..2001

Q: wannabee wrote truck holds a long time in first gear. if you manually shift into 2nd it appears not to have 2nd. if it shifts on its own it takes 2nd. but when in a pull and it tries to shift into 2nd it comes out of gear. any ideas on what is wrong i assume that you checked the fluid level. it does not sound good. for starter if you are so inclined you might drop the pan on the tranny and check it for a clogged filter and for what deposits might be in the pan too. also check the the color and oder of the oil. if it is brown or smell burnt or like peanut butter you have serious issues. if pan look good and oil and filter is okay then you may have a internal seal leak in a clutch assembly. does this vehical have a lift and oversized tires and does it have a aux tranny cooler installed as well ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .

roy wrote does the weather this year seem a bit extreme so far hurricanes all over the place tuisami sp earthquakes torrential rains and floods. if this continues the winter will be a real bitch especially with heating costs going through the roof. been raining here for the past week serious flood to the north and west. unfuckingbelieveable. three or four people actually killed out here in western ma. due to the flooding. i understand hurricane severity goes in roughly 25-30 year cycles and were now entering an active part of the cycle duh!. but i also think the media hypes weather a lot more than it used to and of course the media in general inflates the negative. hurricane katrina was thought to have killed tens of thousands when i think were at 1500 or so; new orleans might not be rebuilt when it was never in doubt that of course it would; that no might be flooded for months when it was largely pumped out in a couple weeks; that the flood waters were highly toxic and a major environmental catastrophe was happening when lsu study revealed the waters are no worse than what washed off no streets after a summer rain of course thats a relative comparison. still when i saw blue skies yesterday afternoon i sort of knew how noah must have felt! smh .

i have a clicking noise took starter out and was tested and it is good put it in truck just clicks any idears please help probably a defective starter relay its located in the power distribution center under the hood. .

havent had the truck but a week and tonight driving home from the lake with the boat in tow. i noticed something a little odd. i thought. when running with the low beams on i would intermittently see the high beam indicator flicker. nothing major the lights them selves didnt seem to switch to high even momentaraly. no biggie just odd. so my question is.. has any one else noticed/heard of this. is it normal for these dr trucks this was the first time driving at night with the new truck. chris .
