From : Annonymous
Q: its been recommended by the dealer that i have the 60k transmission service performed on my 97 ram. what is the advisability of doing or not doing that secondly one of independent shops is advocating a flush process called the bg pf5 power flush and fluid exchange system. their claim is the pf5 process replaces -all- of the fluid and back-flushes the filter to clean it so you do not have to open the system to replace the filter. anyone had this done seems a little pricey at $145. what should conventional tranny 60k service cost opinions appreciated. -- hooked on ebonics lesson 4 use the word income in a sentence. income i just got in bed wif dis ho and income my ol lady. .

once again you can do the same thing for $20 + $5 for the filter. buy 10 quarts or 12of atf3+ drop pan & clean & change filter. dont forget to adjust bands with proper back off turns for your model very important remove return line from trans cooler & put a hose over it & run to drain pan. fill trans. & start engine & run for a few seconds until drain oil changes color dont run trans. dry. top off fluid and recheck while running. i had mine flushed at about 39k miles or so. it was done by a local indy shop i watched him do it. he romved the pan and filter and hooked up the flusher where the filter was. he then flushed it all out put on a new filter and closed it up. i dont remember what i paid for it but im pretty sure it was less then $200 including drain and fill of the transfer case with synthetic lube. --- outgoing mail is certified virus free. checked by avg anti-virus system http//www.grisoft.com. version 6.0.729 / virus database 484 - release date 7/27/2004 .
