From : huff

Q: 2001 ram qc 1500 felt like its either slipping a bit in first or just very delayed shifting to 2nd. i get a p1756 govenor pressure error code. digging around on the internet leads me to believe this is somewhat of a common problem. anyone have an idea of what i can expect to have a shop replace the solenoid and/or sensor that would cause this error does driving it as i have for a couple days induce any damage .

for the cycle start switch on and off said that is no longer worth a crap and not usable since the 90s. not true... on 00 and up the key cycle is perfectly reliable. the one exception is the 2nd gen diesels 00-02 because of the separate pcm/ecm and lack of any integration. thats why you only got the 1693 companion code that pointed to one or more error codes in the ecm. on the 3rd gen diesels i get all ecm codes displayed on the odometer... both p0xxx/p1xxx generic obd-ii as well as the manufacturer-specific p2xxx codes. it was the crank sensor that was messing everything up. yep - thats something only your ecm would be aware of. he told me he would check the codes anytime for me for free. good deal... most dealerships will charge you a diagnostic fee $60-$90 depending for that. .
