the factory service manuals are the best section 21 in all of them. automatic transmission service group atsg manuals are very good and can be found almost anywhere trans stuff is sold $25 per manual one manual per trans. chiltons also does a set mostly in groups of transmissions. one book has several trans from different makers. hp books and sa design are another good source lok them up on the net and youll find they list their entire lineup of good books. one book ive found is an excellent resource is auto math handbook by john lawlor hpbooks 1020. it has all the relevant formuli as well as about ten pages of conversion factors for almost any unit of measure you could imagine. -- max there are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty soap ballot jury and ammo. please use in that order. -ed howdershelt author hi guys! i know there are some really knowledgeable tranny guys out there so i was hoping someone could tell me where i can find some comprehensive reading on transmissions esp. mopars. books texts and manuals would be fine too. tia rach .

yeah i was just reading that on a google searchi knew i remembered a red guage somewhere. now i gotta decide do i buy a guage or take it inwhere they will probably charge me just as much for diagnosis. is there really anything else it can be other than the compressor that breaks a lot on these damn dakotas thanks for replying. i didnt measure the high side.i havent ever done socan i use the same guage i used for the low side i dont want to blow it up or anything. no - a high-side r134 gauge goes up to around 400psi. typical readings are in the 250psi area. the quick-connect is a different size to prevent you from using a low-side gauge/hose and doing damage mostly to the gauge some to you. are you sure that the compressor is actually running. is the clutch engaging when you turn it on. i have seen many people that think that just because the pulley is spinning that the compressor is turning as well when a quick look at the center of the pulley showed that the clutch was not working and nothing was moving. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

don wrote help ive been getting a rather loud clicking/clunking from the front end of my 2001 dodge dakota sport 5.9l quad cab. already the transfer case and the cv drive axles have been replaced and still the noise continues but now the noise seems to be centralized only on the driver side of the truck as before it could be heard thru out the front end. the noise can only be heard when the truck is in drive and moving so it has been hard to pin it down. any suggestions anyone can offer or if you have had this problem please let me know what to do. thank you for any help you may offer check the shock absorber mount bolts. if they arent tight enough they will cause a clunk or rattle noise. -- ken .
