i am planning to drive from ma to florida about 1400 miles towing a 3500 lb boat and hauling about 1000 lbs in the truck bed. harley motorcycle and a few other odds and ends. i have had the truck serviced oil change transmission fluid change and upon the recommendation of the service manager changed the rear end fluid to a synthetic also recommended in the owners manual. i have no idea what the truck weighs empty - cant find it anywhere in the manual. does anybody know and is there any other advice on preparing the truck for this trip the truck 2001 ram 2500 4x4 8 foot bed 8800lb rating 4.10 rear gears 5.9l gas engine factory tow package with transmission cooler 23000 miles on the odometer. tia eisboch you sound like you should be all set as for your empty weight i ve always gone to a recycle center where they have a truck scale and have my truck weighed the way it will be used from day to day that way you get an exact weight of your vehicle my ram came in at 6700 thats with a full tank of gas my tool box me and anything else in or on my truck there are many variables that can change that so its nice to know exactly where you are at 79 t/a ws6 455 hurst 4 spd blk w/ t-tops heavily fortified 4mpg 00 ram 2500hd qc v-10 4x4blk5 spd410 lsd 10mpg 98 intruder 1400 blk 5 spd 25mpg .

assuming you are still running stock size load range e tires bump your pressures up to about 60-65 front and 70-75 rear. i am planning to drive from ma to florida about 1400 miles towing a 3500 lb boat and hauling about 1000 lbs in the truck bed. harley motorcycle and a few other odds and ends. i have had the truck serviced oil change transmission fluid change and upon the recommendation of the service manager changed the rear end fluid to a synthetic also recommended in the owners manual. i have no idea what the truck weighs empty - cant find it anywhere in the manual. does anybody know and is there any other advice on preparing the truck for this trip the truck 2001 ram 2500 4x4 8 foot bed 8800lb rating 4.10 rear gears 5.9l gas engine factory tow package with transmission cooler 23000 miles on the odometer. tia eisboch .

my buddy has the same but with the diesel. his is 6600 lbs. so yours may be around 6000. ive got a 1500 4x4 with 6ft bed and the 5.9 gas engine. but with brush tubular steel bumpers. mine rides a around 5800 with the bumpers. she certainly dont stop on a dime but i have towed a car on trailer long distance before w/o a problem. i trust that your boat trailer has dual axle with its own brakes..... have a good trip to florida. tim texas i am planning to drive from ma to florida about 1400 miles towing a 3500 lb boat and hauling about 1000 lbs in the truck bed. harley motorcycle and a few other odds and ends. i have had the truck serviced oil change transmission fluid change and upon the recommendation of the service manager changed the rear end fluid to a synthetic also recommended in the owners manual. i have no idea what the truck weighs empty - cant find it anywhere in the manual. does anybody know and is there any other advice on preparing the truck for this trip the truck 2001 ram 2500 4x4 8 foot bed 8800lb rating 4.10 rear gears 5.9l gas engine factory tow package with transmission cooler 23000 miles on the odometer. tia eisboch .
