Towing and OD
From : kevin
Q: i have noticed in a lot of posts lately people are saying turn off the od. i checked out my 04 1500 hemi on the weekend and there is no way to run off the od as far as i can see it does have a tow haul button on the shifter. i played around with this button under various conditions and all i can see that it does is change the shift rpms. i pressed the tow/haul button and took it for a spin and was able to count the shifts between gears got 5 gears. can anybody verify this .

the tranny computer can take care of the tranny just fine without human intervention. it will do what it needs to do when it needs to do it. it just cant see the rise and fall of the road while youre pulling in enough time to downshift appropriately to keep momentum up to max so anticipating an approaching hill by manually downshifting makes things go a little smoother. if youre on a road that is making the transmission shift frequently and you lose speed because of it then yes just pop it out of od and wait till the road settles down. im betting theres a way to lock out od .. its one of those rtfm things. button on the end of the shifter or dashboard something labeled power .. thats a cool thing changing the shift points. i have noticed in a lot of posts lately people are saying turn off the od. i checked out my 04 1500 hemi on the weekend and there is no way to run off the od as far as i can see it does have a tow haul button on the shifter. i played around with this button under various conditions and all i can see that it does is change the shift rpms. i pressed the tow/haul button and took it for a spin and was able to count the shifts between gears got 5 gears. can anybody verify this .
