Q: hmmm. made four trips to the east coast and back and never had a problem. i think all you dodge owners are just jealous and are causing this to happen look... just because i have a pair of bolt cutters a can of spray paint a cardboard cutout of a bowtie and several bowtie sillouettes on the side of my truck does not prove a damn thing! .

tom lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net wrote in message driving normal...thats not too often. so when towing a 5th wheeler should i punch the button or not punch the button honestly i dont know. does the od cutoff or the re-badged tow/haul button drop the engine to 4th or 3rd given the fact that the rfe trannys are complete new designs and not upgraded/altered 4xres i dont think theres the same concern with lack of oiling to the o/d section because there isnt a separate o/d section - the trannys were designed from the ground up with od in mind as opposed to the 4xre/4xrh which bolted an o/d unit onto the back of a 727. i would simply follow the normal rule of towing with an automatic - take it out of od if it starts hunting around. if its not hunting you can leave it engaged. i think it drops it back to 3rd. at least it seems that was when looking at the tac and the gas mileage drops from 14.5 to about 8. but when i use the cruise control it seems to be in 4th gear. its weird beast. -- moparman----remove clothes to reply... scud coordinates latitude 32.61208 degrees north longitude 96.92995 degrees west depth 17.35 inches .

you may want to look at older 4wd little ranger pus . mine has a hinged dropdown spare carrier that looks like it was oem ford. i wish i knew what year this was mines just a trailer made out of the bed/frame/axle of a 83-86 pickup that i drag behind my bronco ii . but im curious as to why youd want your spare back and under the bed. its fine if you have a flat on the freeway / no major load/ no tow behind. youll curse and beat yourself to death if you have a flat in a mudhole with a heavy load and/or a tow behind . been dere-dun dat !! got a 92 ranger that has this setup. works real sweet. on pavement. would hate to have to access the spare in any of the numerous places out back of beyond that i have gotten myself into over the years. my daily and weekend fun ride is a 92 dodge with the cummins and for the approx. 50 weeks a year that i am pavement bound more often than not i use a front carrier. when i do get serious about being in the rougher stuff i take it down and toss it into the bed with all my camping/hunting gear. underneath all the fragile stuff - this puts it into a place that if i have to get at it there is no worries about being axle deep in a bog. really did happen to me once in wyoming. was cruising down an old logging road and just after i entered a boggy little park i ran over a tree branch that was stuck into the mud. never would have gotten the tire out from underneath the bed of the truck. had enough fun digging out the mud to change the tire and then get out of there. plain forget about jacking the rig up. and all of this happened at 8500 elevation. wahoo! .

woconnor@mn.rr.com says... i want to use the suregrips under a 78 dodge warlock 4x4 that im building. i can bolt one of them directly on the rear of the truck but the front axle is another matter. will the existing front housing accept the differential from a 8 3/4 i believe the current differential is a dana 44 of course not but there is a good variety of limited slip and locker parts available for the dana so why not just use it .

cloaked wrote well if you google this group you will find a huge debate about various fluid types and additives. however if i recall correctly the atf+3 is for use in chysler transmissoins built prior to 1996 or is that 1998 but anything after that incl. 2000 model year the specified fluid is atf+4. per tsb 21-16-99 the transition to atf+4 chrsyler spec 9602 at the factory took place at the following dates and serial numbers for each body type **gs** **after november 8 1999 mdh1108xx** ja after september 7 1998 mdh0907xx **jx** **after may 21 1999 mdh0521xx** lh after july 20 1998 mdh0720xx **ns** **after october 10 1999 mdh1010xx windsor assy plant** **after october 18 1999 mdh1018xx st louis assy plant** 11th position of vin - r = windsor/b = st louis **pl** **after april 24 1999 mdh0424xx** pr after july 20 1998 mdh0720xx another tsb specifies which earlier vehicles can/should be switched to atf+4. iirc it was all chrysler vehicles except certain minivans although that exception may no longer be in effect. .
