Three Ho's and a Merry Christmas

Q: tom lawrence wrote drain valve and turn on the key so the fuel pump would pump the filter out or is their another filter under the truck. you can open the drain the yellow handle at the fuel filter canister then bump the ignition briefly to start - this will run the fuel pump for about 30 seconds. if you dont get any fuel out of the drain remove the filter possibly its frozen up and/or waxed over with gelled fuel. you should get fuel to run out at that point. if you do warm the filter up inside for a bit then re-install it and try starting it. if you emptied the canister of fuel by draining it expect to have to cycle the lift pump by bumping the ignition to start a couple of times to re-fill the canister with fuel. if it still doesnt and you can hear your lift pump running then it may be frozen in the line between the tank and the filter. there are three steel lines running along the inside of the drivers frame rail. the largest of the three is the fuel supply line. try heating that with a hair dryer heat gun or that heat tape that you have. hay man i really appreciate your help. this is the first cumins i have had infact it is the first diesel auto i have ever had. i do own a jd 5410 but it has never allowed me to gain any experience. thanks again and happy holiday. bill p. just me & dog .

on sun 26 dec 2004 194857 gmt john kunkel kunkel.j@shorts.comcast.net wrote at some point those with narrow minds will hopefully accept that those who are anti-bush arent necessarily pro-kerry or any other dem. i never said nor do i think anyone has that being anti bush means being pro kerry. one country indeed but divided thanks to the polarizers like bush. bush didnt divide the nation any more than kerry did. what divides this nation is the lack of respect for the office no matter who is in it. blame the man in it blame public attitude blame loose ethics whatever. the point is it starts with the citizens of the nation when it comes to respecting the office of president. regardless of who is in that office the decisions are surely more than the average citizen would care to take on. thus the respect should be inherent. i would argue the notion that one should respect the office regardless of who occupies it. should one respect an archbishop who is a proven pedophile just because he wears the collar our president right or wrong is a great marching tune but not very realistic. all the bushites who ramble on about respecting the office were the same ones chastizing clinton for hummergate. if you truly think that bush or kerry polarized this country alone it is you who is narrow minded. never said bush was the sole polarizer; hone your reading skills. i think you need to re-read both your post and maxs john... make 2 lists person and office... fill out each list as you read the posts... i think you and max are saying pretty much the same thing but you misunderstood him.. probably in a valiant attempt to defend slick willie who imho made the office very difficult to respect mac please remove splinters before emailing .

tom lawrence wrote was this a replacement for a faulty lift pump or did you install it to avoid future problems i replaced it to avoid the problem of running the fuel pump dry as i have several power modifications to the engine/drivetrain. my stock fuel pump was working fine but it wouldnt be up to the task of the increased fuel demands. what does something like that cost and where do you buy it it runs a little over $500 and is available from a number of diesel performance places. its produced by a company called diesel performance products inc. a search of fass fuel air separator should turn up several sites and other info. thanks. ill keep this in mind when my stock lift pump craps out. power modifications are planned for the future. im still waiting for the weak 47re to fail so i have an excuse to have the transmission built. no power mods until then. .

im reasonably sure that it leaked out the low side. if i take the cap off it starts hissing and dribbling oil. if i can get in there with a tire valve stem tool i could probably check to see if the schrader valve is in all the way and not loose from vibration. no schraders on a 134a system. .
