The drag strip
From : eisboch
Q: went to a local drag strip last night. first time in many many years. it was an open night - pay 15 bucks and jr. could run the quarter mile in daddys borrowed lexus. anyway in the middle of the evenings events a guy showed up with a brand new 04 chrysler 300. great looking car but looked a little funny staging next to some of the modified mustangs and camaros. the guy made about 4 runs with times consistently in the mid 14s. certainly wont win any races but not too bad for a big heavy luxury passenger car. eisboch .

it may be related to a previous problem if you remember the post about the gauges that were pulsing with the blinkers and flashers. yesterday i was burning up some gas and the overdrive stopped kicking in. i am on this overdrive button a lot so i know it was working fine just before this. it had failed to work on a couple of other occasion but i attributed it to not being warmed up. the cruise stopped working at the same time. i got in the truck today and all is normal again. i was beginning to suspect a fuse until now though i imagine it could still be a fuse that is barely hanging on. i do not have a manual and i suspect the fuse panels will not be marked so well and will have me scratching my head when it stops raining i will look and see. until then if any of you have thoughts they would be welcome. 93 dakota le 5.2 liter automatic 4x4 -- from the desk of jesse a. harrington .

im looking at getting an 02 ram 1500 slt quadcab 4x4 with a 4.7 magnum v8 and 36k miles spray-in bed liner and auto-start. the truck looks like its in good condition and was well taken care of by the previous owner. im just wondering if there are any known issues with this vehicle from owners that i should know about before buying it. also if its worth the $25k asking price.... kbb.com says $21 to $23k can anyone give some insight thanks! -- -raksashan .

mac.davis@comcast.net says... if hes running 100+ mph hes got traction problems or it the weird drive by throttle it and our trucks have is making it launch too soft. with that speed he should be in the 13s. bdk id guess that stock tires would create a traction problem at the strip... mac i would kind of like to see a vid clip of one and see if the spin is limited to a chirp or it actually blows the tires. im guessing its computer control deciding for the driver. my 2000 sierra truck ran 15.65s all day long with it in auto 4wd it wouldnt even come close to spinning the tires on launch just a squeak.. in 2wd the rear would jackhammer and kill any et. my old 79 trans am had a corked up catalytic conveter and thats all it would do squeak the tires and lumber off to a 16.50 16.51 16.52 etc just pick an et it would only be about a hundreth off. after i had the exhaust done it would blow the tires unless launched just right and would if you hit it exactly rightrun a 15.40 or so. with a 2.41 wtf was gm thinkingposithats not bad. mid 14s were a 3.20 gear change and new tires away. an intake manifold and light head clean up got it to 14 flat at a too fast for the et 105+mph. that car had amazing throttle response and was the best tire smoker i ever had. i never should have sold it just repaint and fix it up...sigh. bdk .
