Q: mark wrote well ive had this problem ever since i purchased the truck new in the winter of 1997. if it gets any colder than -25c i end up with no overdrive.this has been on trips lasting over 2 hours. today it is a rare -40c...crazy cold! i know im not the only one complaining about this problem.there is some improvement when the block heater is plugged in. the colder it gets the more likely there wont be any overdrive.there is no shortange of cold temps in canada unfortunately. has anyone come up with a solution date jul. 7 1995 models 1996 br ram truck 1996 ab ram van/wagon 1996 an dakota 1996 br ram truck 1996 zj grand cherokee note this bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with rwd transmissions 42re 44re 46re and 47re. discussion in ambient temperatures of minus 5 degrees f and below the powertrain control module pcm will electronically inhibit the transmission from shifting into overdrive. this will protect the transmission from damage if the automatic transmission fluid begins to freeze. this is a new feature for the 1996 model year. the pcm will allow overdrive operation once the ambient temperature has risen approximately 7 degrees above the temperature the transmission overdrive was inhibited at or an ambient temperature of + 2 degrees f whichever occurs first. note the pcm uses a different temperature sensor to monitor the overdrive disconnect than the overhead console. do not attempt to monitor the overdrive disconnect with the overhead console. jerry thanks jerry! that info also appears in everyones owners manual. as a further point it is the transmission temp that is monitored not the engine temp. chryco service manager member sae .

from mopar440@aol.comnet.org redneck tookover hell date 1/29/2004 708 pm central standard time btw i dont think anyone involved in this deal is attempting to cheat anyone i think both of us are just naive. thanks again for the education robert maybe not but i cant imagine someone who knows they are selling their vehicle not going down to the lien/security/title holder and telling them so the title can be released at the appropriate time. i think ive got a handle of the problem i believe its a logistical issue. the lien holder is a credit union in nevada i dont know the name of it yet i should find out today. this credit union doesnt have a local presence in oregon. so the actual title is in nevada. when i thought he had clear title i was going to do a cash deal now that i know he doesnt and btw hes upside down on this loan surprise btdt. i think the best thing to do is assume his loan just let him pay it down to the purchase price and take it over. failing in that ill harass my local banker for a loan today. it should be a very busy day today. i leave sunday for oregon and then ive got all week next week to complete the sale. youre right this is a big hassle if id known going in well i wouldnt have gone in. now that ive bought non-refundable tickets and arranged for time off ill stick it out. thanks to everyone i appreciate every response ive received. robert good luck!! although i think i would eat the price of the tickets on this one. there is too much bs on this deal. curious whos plates and whos insurance are you transporting it under. be real careful on that issue. if you dont own it i doubt you can insure it. ya gotta get the title assigned to you before ya turn a wheel imho. roy and then on top of what roy said have you actually seen this truck besides pictures. it is more than common for people who are losing their vehicle due to finances or a repo to severely abuse or even purposely damage the vehicle because the are pissed off about losing it especially if they were well into the payments. in most cases a non-refundable ticket can be used at a different time with an additional service charge. you should call your airline and check it out. just make sure that you are still using your head and not your emotions on this purchase. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving good point! could end up throwing good money after bad. this deal is to screwed up. sounds like woever had the paper laid it off to whoever in nev. probably at a real high interest rate so they probably will be real slow in processing things. roy .

hi bryan well since i cant get it off due to the use of those damn door panel type fasteners to secure it ill take some 150 grit to the edges a bit to see hear what happens. thanks. --mike hi roy as a matter of fact i do have one. i didnt add it it came with the truck. ill take it off and see if it goes away. thanks for the tip. --mike i have a 2003 4x4 quad-cab 2500 and have an annoying whistle that i hear only with the drivers side window down. it starts at about 25mph and continues at any speed above that. at first i thought it was the mirror and i tucked it in on the freeway once and it was still there. does anyone else have the problem and perhaps a remedy other than keeping the window up or driving slower than 25mph g. thanks --mike you dont by chance have one of those deflectors on the front of your hood do you some will cause a whistle some wont. roy sharp edges on the deflector could easily cause a whistling effect. bryan .

on 31 jan 2004 230336 -0800 skydive1955@yahoo.com brian wrote no i havent towed with it yet but do plan to. i had also heard about getting extra gauges as you recommended but a friend suggested purchasing a tuner to adjust the computer controller for various towing/non-towing conditions. he said it boosted power and mileage but since i know little about it i thought id ask to find out if it is worthwhile. where do you ge the gauges and are they easy to install or should it be done professionally if you havent towed with it yet it sounds like you just want a go-fast. buy a v-10. my stock 98 ram tows my 34 foot 11000 lb fiver in excess of 80 with ease on the flat and can hold its own in the mountains against the big rigs. your friend is putting you in a bad situation imo. if you get the chip and get the computer you wont have the self-restraint to throttle back youll know the power is there and youll keep pushing till you blow the truck up. the gauges are a requirement to prevent that. greg - who has raced 18 wheelers back in the 80s but knows of no place that has drag races for rvs today. .

on sat 31 jan 2004 224430 gmt ken shearer331@earthlink.net wrote here is the situation i have a 98 4 cylinder dakota. actually my wife does. you were right the first time. since the vehicle is broken it automatically became yours until it gets fixed. read the marriage contract - its in the fine print! ;- the truck has never overheated no detrimental running issues no smoking the coolant is perfect. someone told me to watch out for a cracked head but they dont just crack for no reason. you keep saying in your follow-on posts that the truck has never overheated. there is no need for a guilt complex - this problem can occur without any signs of overheating or other problems. i spent $1200 for an overhaul based on the fact that i had water on the garage floor when i left every morning despite the fact that the car was running like a champ. blown head gasket leaking water to the outside rather than into the crankcase. greg .

on 31 jan 2004 174146 est rifter rifter@concentric.net wrote a while back i thought id be able to post and read to the group more often but that changed when the wife found i had her computer up and running. now that i have some time alone with her at the store i thought id pop in and say howdy. looks like a little new blood is floating around her along with some of the old albeit with more beer that blood cells ;- . so hows everything going it looks like weve lost a few. wheres budd beekeep and cbhvac i remember them talking about leaving because the bs was flooding into their chest waders but didnt know whether they actually left or not. anyway i have a couple of problems that ill put in another post concerning my 85 ram. same problems as usual but i never got around to doing it and now i cant remember anything. -josh like they would be so lucky! im still here. for some strange reason most of us are behaving for the moment. budd has been quiet lately. maybe hes not feeling well or his ass is sore from so many of us jumping on it. beekeep .
