TECH: No Power to the Starter

From : david donaldson

Q: hi i need some help with my 93 dodge ram150. its a 318 auto. when i go to start i dont get anything from the starter not even a click. i thought it was the start at first. so i had it tested and it seemed bad but as the auto parts guy kept clicking the power on the bench it started to work. so i thought ok its probably bad. so i replaced it but the same thing. all the accessories work and the battery is good. any ideas or help trouble shooting it would be appreciated. thanks david .

thanks for the email tom. the problem seems to be the ignition in the steering column. it starts when i connect the two poles on the starter. depending on how expensive it is to fix i may just put in a switch from the starter. --david hi i need some help with my 93 dodge ram150. its a 318 auto. when i go to start i dont get anything from the starter not even a click. i thought it was the start at first. so i had it tested and it seemed bad but as the auto parts guy kept clicking the power on the bench it started to work. so i thought ok its probably bad. so i replaced it but the same thing. all the accessories work and the battery is good. any ideas or help trouble shooting it would be appreciated. thanks david .
