hi folks i have one of those funny sound questions and wouldnt mind entertaining some opinions in case they mention something i could fix myself. frequently when accelerating to about 40-50 mph 2000 rpm i hear a rattling sound. its not a screeching high pitched rattle at all. sometimes it goes away after briefly perking up. it never lasts all that long either. sometimes while cruising to & from work at 65 mph it starts up for about 5 miles. since its not screechy my inclination would be to say that its not a lubrication issue. it sounds almost like something is slightly loose. awhile ago i had the transmission inspected and the mechanic indicated that it was fine. ive had the serpentine replaced about 6 months ago as well and the infernally expensive ball joints. the truck has about 40k miles on it and if someone has gone through similar experiences id like to know about it. thank you so much! -- seth. i have a similar problem at just about any speed my 98 dakota will make a strange noise when i am accelerating. it sounds like a dull clicking but not like valves tapping. someone told me that it sounded like it might be a crack in the exhaust manifold or a leak in the exhaust system near the block. i havent been able to find it and several different mechanics have all had different diagnosis. i also read somewhere that it is a common problem on the 97+ dakotas that the rocker arm is loose and can cause this rattling sound. if you find anything helpful let me know kevin .

theguy wrote the last couple of years i have gotten into fly fishing pretty heavily. im not good at it mostly i just spend a lot of money on new rods and reels; but my oldetst son and i both have pontoon boats and we enjoy the mountain rivers and lakes. hope you have better luck than i ever did in not throwing wind knots. havent picked up a fly rod in about 10 years now. locate some old vhs tapes of dave whitlock and you can pick up a lot of good information. jerry .

read the post. it has nothing to do with shutter. there is a tsb out for brake shudder or vibration replacing brake pad and resurfacing the rotors. assuming your under 12/12 or have a good district rep brakes are only 12 months or 12k warranty and they want you to machine them with an on car brake lathe if one is not available from the dealer they want it subleted out to someone who does have one......hmmmmmmm tsb 05-005-04 i frequently feel a slight surge when braking. it feels like someone pressed on the accelerator for a split second. my foot does not touch the accelerator when i press on the brake pedal. anyone having this problem or have a suggestion thanks frank .

mine had the shudder problem and dealer mentioned the tsb to resurface the rotors. i complained that doing so would reduce the life expectancy of the rotors and i bought a brand new vehicle. they agreed and replaced the rotors rather than turning them. maxpower wrote there is a tsb out for brake shudder or vibration replacing brake pad and resurfacing the rotors. assuming your under 12/12 or have a good district rep brakes are only 12 months or 12k warranty and they want you to machine them with an on car brake lathe if one is not available from the dealer they want it subleted out to someone who does have one......hmmmmmmm tsb 05-005-04 .
