on tue 1 feb 2005 103222 -0500 frank k. fkozerski@comcast.net wrote jason g wrote i just bought a 2000 dakota last week that came with the towing package. im having difficulty determining just what that means besides the hitch receiver. from my guesstimation and net research it means heavy duty rear brakes and a 3.55 rear end anything else i also put it to work this weekend hauling a yard of bulk topsoil. from what the guy said at the place it probably weighed around 1800 pounds so i know it was a leetle overloaded even though the 4.7v8 powered along like it was a piece of cake. the truck was very noticeably sagging on the ass end but more bothersome was when i went over a small water channel dip in the street at about 15-20mph and the damn thing bounced front-to-back like crazy even banged the rear bumper on the ground. so the question is do i need new shocks or springs or was this just because i had exceeded the specified load i did the bounce-on-the-bumper test and it seemed a bit loose but i dont know how bouncy these trucks are right out of the box. the truck has just over 100000 miles on it. thanks for any insight. the tow package for all three top sellers are just a little different. but usually consist of a wiring bundle that all you have to do is connect up the brake controller and you are electrically ready to hook up. of course the frame mounted hitch platform. some units have oil coolers and larger radiators as well as larger transmission coolers for auto trans. there are also the towing mirrors but are not part of the towing package on the 04 ram. the engine and rear end are matched more for loads or towing but can vary. i dont think the dakota would be revered as a towing truck quite like a ram. bill p. the tow package usually includes a larger alternator as well. my 04 durango does. frank yep.. and the tow package on our 99 ram includes the heavy duty alternator too.. mac please remove splinters before emailing .

daniel j. stern wrote the marketeer idiots continue to claim americans prefer red turn signals. and i speaking for myself agree with the maketeer idiots in this case. pick your badness! do you want the brake tail and turn signal functions all lumped into one lamp which can give only one signal at a time and if it fails you lose all functions on that side badness my 69 has 3 lamps per side actually. built-in redundancy. problem solved. or do you want the brake lamp and turn signal are two separate lamps but theyre right next to each other and both red so the drivers behind you have to figure out just what-all your vehicles assortment of bright/dim/on/off/steady/flashing red lights is trying to convey...once they get close enough to see that there are in fact two duelling reds right next to each other badness now that system and the one currently in use the most is absolutely hatefully stupid. .

then why do you act like one lol act like what budd i forgot with you its not acting when youre an idiotic troll its just the real you peeking thru. do you mean like the old bitter failure that shows in you. hmm you never did prove i was a failure but everytime you post your insecurity shows. yes i did. i doubt that the grass cutting buisness ever existed and if it did and you were really givng your family that much money and they were still trying to collect welfare that shows what kind of stock you come from. as for the other two both failures were yours for both signing an idiotic contract and the other for not planning ahead. the old proverbs go like this lie down with dogs and youll get up with fleas. if it looks like a duck quacks like a duck acts like a duck then it most likely is a duck. but that is your opinion and you being what i consider to be an extreme right wing puppet how much stock would i take in your opinion. no again youre wrong troll. those proverbs are from a long time ago when it still was important to be a viable part of a community whether it was your town nation or a little internet group. you really should practice what you preach for a change. right like you have any room to talk . . . .not. no more and no less than you do. tom have you ever considered the possibility that the whole reason you catch heck in this group is because of your attitudes toward others you are probably right but the funny thing is that you really are no better. the only real difference between us is that you are also on the extreme right wing with many here and i am not. if thety were true then id be catching it as much as you do but wait . . .no i dont. i only catch heck from the group troll you. lol because most of the biggest mouths in her are your friends. gee and i wonder why they dont attack you especially after the last one said that you were wrong and the whining went on for months. the incident with the post from my sis-in-law no but good point and not even 24 hrs after attacking me for doing the same thing lol. i guess that its ok when you do it though. are you dredging up about that incident with roy that everyone would forget if you didnt keep dragging it up troll. but then troublemaking is your entire life and joy isnt it wuss lol yep thats the one and why should we forget it. if you were everything that you claim to be then it never should have happened. hell you followed him around posting crap sorta like you tries to do to me. the difference is that i have no problem stooping down to your level while roy did. if you dont want me to bring it up then stop trying to make yourself out to be better than me because history says it aint so. come on tom is that all the better you can do come on see if you can find more to make yourself look like a childish ass. its so funny watching you kicking your heels against the floor like a baby having a temper tantrum. lol now that would be you. every post we are in turns into a crying match started by you. come on you show us even better what an immature brain dead little idiot you are. youre such a pathetic little crybaby. you havent had the maturity to even comment on the ford website that proves you were wrong about the k$n filters. lol what for. when i do comment you complain when i dont you complain anyway. make up your mind already. i did notice that ford rated k&n as one of the highest flowing filters and iirc said you could see a few extra hp with it in a high performance engine. they even said that economically it could be better because of its reusable nature. and nothing about them destroying an engine. there is that better. you quit the conversation about turbos as soon as you found out i had proof of what i said. what i did no such thing. unlike you i am busy sometimes but i did respond. you proved nothing. you said that you have a book big deal. it is obvious that you didnt understand what he was saying. that is obvious by the amount you cut out of your response to my last post lol. ya got the guts to let me set up a little test on turbos for you how about a test on mechanics you take them right here on the group where everyone can score you not just me. go for it pinhead but do it in the other thread so that i dont miss it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

to a point. in return for a smaller engine you may have to turn more rpm due to different gearing to accomodate the same load capacity. ok lets pretend i didnt do my homework. go look at the specs of the deutz yourself. no pretending about it you didnt do your homework. you quote ratings but im betting they are for a bare engine iow dyno numbers. the rating would likely change from what is published to a different set of numbers for a 2500 series dodge and to yet another rating if placed in a 1500 series dodge and thats simply based on drivetrain variations. the fact is you cannot simply replace a six cylinder with a four cylinder and expect all to be the same just because the rating is similar. as one other post noted the torque and hp curves will be different even if the peak numbers are similar and thats just a start. id be glad to look at the specs you like so much only the deutzusa site doesnt seem to have the engine you are talking so much about. when youve finished your several years of r&d i may actually find merit to your claims. second guessing is a way of life for us engineers. im assuming then that either the r&d doesnt mean a thing to you or youll be posting your r&d results in a few months. vibration doesnt rob me of fuel...what are you saying exactly sure it does. any extraneous motion lowers efficiency. larger internals to stand up to the load will lower efficiency. more degrees of revolution between firing cycles will lower efficiency to a point. would deutz build an engine to produce x amount of power with moving parts that can endure only x-1 loads...hmmm...someone had better get on the phone with deutz and tell them they are about to go bankrupt ; hardly. duetz would only put the engine into applications for which it was designed. as another post noted a four cylinder diesel is great for applications requiring a constant rpm such as power generation and pumping such as water or hydraulic. actually a straight eight is more so...but whos splitting hairs. well you are so lets look at it a bit..... the eight has more cylinders and more moving parts as well as a crankshaft thats twice the length/weight of your much ballyhooed four cylinder. thus were back to the inline six as being the most efficient configuration. the straight eight would win based on smoothness of operation if designed correctly. if designed incorrectly it would simply have even worse vibration than the four. because it is practical. nuff said on your part. if the four was as practical as you claim it would be the mainstay of otr trucking. its not. though i see all these city buses driving past my office window and they are all running on four cylinder cats....hmmm...those silly bus drivers. someone had better go tell them they are not practical and to halt their silliness ; really if so id like to see a model number on them. pretty soon you might have a truck getting 25mpg or better. i suggest that i could have that this afternoon if my foot werent so heavy. thats to me. welcome to conservative driving. wonder why i posted that i would need a sturdy set of 3.11 gears. wonder why you chose not to factor that into my arguement because the issue as stated by you was an engine swap not a drivetrain alteration as i stated previously. never said i didnt like cummins. i seek to improve what i already own. cummins make fine engines...but its a little naive to think cause chrysler chose the cummins then cummins is the best engine available ; naive no. practical yes. see most of us figure that if we wanted to redesign our trucks wed not have bought a new one. life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan let me guess...your a republican. wrong. what bearing does my voter registration have on this discussion max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .
