kerryquinn2002@yahoo.com steve jasper wrote so i just got an estimate to replace both universal joints and the wheel bearing hub assemblies in the front of my 1997 dodge ram 1500. i agree that i need this work the wheel bearings are shot and unfortunately sealed. whats worse they cant be seperated from the front assembly. anyhow the guys says $2200 to have this work done. does this seem excessive to anyone i feel like im being taken for a ride.... yes the price quoted is very high. curious as to what is meant when you say they cant be seperated from the front assembly. are they selling you new knuckles because they cant get the bearing/hub assembly out of the knuckle they told me that its all one piece that is that the wheel bearings are part of the wheel bearing hub assembly. so essentially i need new hub assemblies just to replace the bearings. anyhow thanks to everyone for the advice. i dont know much about repairs but i like to think that i know when im being taken for a ride. ill get some other estimates...thanks! .
