Spray on liners..

From : linuxnut

Q: i have a 2004 dakota 4x4 with a v8 engine and automatic trans. the other morning when the temp. was 18 f this is the first time it has been that cold this year in fayetteville nc it made the weirdest noise when revving the engine. it was a high pitched squeak or like finger nails on a black board and fairly loud. at first i though it was the radio but it came from under the hood. a good title for a horror movie after the car warmed up the sound disappeared. it had never done this before. seems to be a cold weather phenomena. anybody have a similar experience or idea what is going on its just plain weird. dave .

now that winter weather is here i think youd know if your t-stat wasnt closing because itd take a really long time for the heater to start putting out some warmth. mikesim@yhti.net writes two things to check are the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor. if the t-stat is not closing the engine is running cold causing the pcm to richen the fuel mixture. if the cts is flaky it could be giving a false reading to the pcm indicating a cold engine thus again causing a rich fuel mixture. have your shop check these two things. mike no to the overdrive and fuel leak. i had the dealership check it out and there baffled. they think it could be the o2 sensor even though its not showing any codes. i was encouraged to take it back to a muffler shop that had done some work a year and a half ago including the removal/bypass of the catalytic converter. only problem is that this problem has only been occuring for a short time. turfinator wrote i have a 1999 ram with a 318 auto and 180 000 kms. recently the truck started using tons of fuel. its maintenance has been kept up and i am the original owner. recently took to dodge dealer and was checked on their computer. it showed their was no codes. the 02 sensor comes up as being fine. the truck shows no changes in performance just fuel economy. the truck is burning aprox 1/4 tank per 50 miles. any ideas fuel leak if the t-stat is stuck it will set a code same for the o2 sensor. did the dealer really scan it on mine the o2 sensor was good at 30 mph but would fall out at an idle. the computer would go to full rich. i had to drive it with the scanner connected to prove it. al .

uwilawldie wrote which is the supposed best ive heard both the cummins and the chevys are strong runners. how are the fords and the gmcs chevy and gmc use the duramax built in colaboration with mitsubishi. isuzu mike the cummins is a tried and true workhorse. the basic design has not changed too much throughout the years. ford uses the new powerstroke which i believe is developed by international. i have also heard rummors that the cummins might not be in the dodge ram past 2007. can anyone verify this i heard that it will have a mercedes diesel in there soon. if they are smart they will offer both at least for a while .

tom lawrence wrote filling up the tank with gasoline and driving the vehicle is all you need the gas cleans the injectors all that after market stuff is a total waste it depends on what gasoline youre using... ive had occasions where a not-so-smoothly running engine was helped out after a couple bottles of techron. of course - you could always go with that shell v-power crap... keep your injectors clean at the expense of your tanks sending unit when my old ford taurus sho forget if thats super high output or shit happens often it was broken for about six months with a bad ignition module. we had a family friend whos daugher was overseas for school for a year and they were nice enough to let me borrow their 1987 honda accord it had 170000 miles on it after about two months of burning chevron gas just regular ol 87 octane i noticed an improvment in fuel economy but no noticable power gain. it calculated out to about three or four mpg improvment. the only thing i can think of is that chevron gas cleaned up the engine after 170k miles of arco gas. .
