i changed mine a few months ago on my 99 ram 1500 4x4.. took about 15 min. easy access on the rear differential. the dealer wanted $135 part and labor but the part is only about $35. my dealer is usually pretty reasonable on labor but seemed way high on this given the simplicity of the replacement. i did not have to reset the computer. **************** my check engine light came on and when i got the code read it said my speed sensor was failing. anyone ever change one of those thanks p .

unless it is an older model then its on the transmission. wrong greg... as usual 98 and up have the speed sensor in the rear differential. 97 and back have the speed sensor in either the transmission tailshaft 2wd or the transfer case 4wd. .

happy tom 8 nah - that was a little too specific oh and theres no s in velocity either .

tom lawrence wrote you dont even know what you wrote do you you said unless it is an older model then its on the transmission. thats completely backwards. why is it backwards you said yourself that 97 and back it was located on the transmission tail shaft ............. wouldnt 97 and back be older models since it was moved to the differential on 98 newer models and above jerry .

unless it is an older model then its on the transmission. thats completely backwards. why is it backwards well i realized what he was trying to say afterwards. i was reading it as if it isnt an older model then its on the transmission. he meant if it is an older model then its on the transmission. it can be taken either way. since i spend the better part of the day writing perl code my interpretation of unless may be slightly different from a normal person so let me apologize to greg on this one... he had it right although he was still pretty vague by not including the years .
