So long, Dodge Rams

From : eisboch

Q: ive been driving rams since 97 starting with a 1500 4x4 then an 01 2500 4x4 and most recently an 04 2500 quad cab long bed with the hemi. all the trucks performed flawlessly my favorite being the 01. the most recent 04 was an excellent truck but presented a bit of a problem in local driving. the turning radius on these trucks is huge requiring 3 point maneuvers just to pull into a parking spot. last week i got trapped at home depot - simply could not back the monster out of the parking space. had to wait until someone moved a similar monster that was parked behind me. anyway traded it in. new ride is an 04 durango 4x4 limited with hemi and i really like it. dodge has done a good job in the upsizing of the durango and the hemi makes it fun to drive. best of all i can park easily again. eisboch .

im a little disappointed in what the ram has evolved into as well. what is it with these vehicle designers seems like every time a good vehicle starts up they have to mess it up look what happened to the 240z. the gto. the camaro. i have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 4.7. its a great engine and has gobs of power. it pulls my 3800 lb. boat/trailer rig all day in 100 degree heat and the temp gauge doesnt budge. plus its very comfortable and roomy. it feels like a truck. the gas mileage is atrocious though. gas just pours through this engine. my average city/highway mileage is around 13 and i dont hot-rod. now the new rams have these.. gasp.. 20 inch wheels with low-profile tires. i guess thats ok if youre into the low-rider street truck image but that is not what many truckers want. its virtually impossible to buy good off-road or all-terrain tires that will fit those wheels. if you can find them theyre huge - like 6 inches bigger in diameter which opens a whole pandoras box of ugly problems. ron m. .

yeah. the grille is way too big. it looks guppy-ish. designers come up with an idea like the great big rig styling of the 94 to 02 trucks then it morphs into an ugly out of control caricature of itself. gm and chevys new trucks are ugly too with those slanted headlights shoulda left them alone the way they were. rmorgan7@austin.rr.com ron m. wrote in im a little disappointed in what the ram has evolved into as well. what is it with these vehicle designers seems like every time a good vehicle starts up they have to mess it up look what happened to the 240z. the gto. the camaro. i have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 4.7. its a great engine and has gobs of power. it pulls my 3800 lb. boat/trailer rig all day in 100 degree heat and the temp gauge doesnt budge. plus its very comfortable and roomy. it feels like a truck. the gas mileage is atrocious though. gas just pours through this engine. my average city/highway mileage is around 13 and i dont hot-rod. now the new rams have these.. gasp.. 20 inch wheels with low-profile tires. i guess thats ok if youre into the low-rider street truck image but that is not what many truckers want. its virtually impossible to buy good off-road or all-terrain tires that will fit those wheels. if you can find them theyre huge - like 6 inches bigger in diameter which opens a whole pandoras box of ugly problems. ron m. -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .

for every one that dislikes something there is at least one other that likes it. i personally think that the looks of the dodge are what makes the truck. it isnt a carbon copy of everything else. i love mine and wouldnt think of any other. dddd yeah. the grille is way too big. it looks guppy-ish. designers come up with an idea like the great big rig styling of the 94 to 02 trucks then it morphs into an ugly out of control caricature of itself. gm and chevys new trucks are ugly too with those slanted headlights shoulda left them alone the way they were. rmorgan7@austin.rr.com ron m. wrote in im a little disappointed in what the ram has evolved into as well. what is it with these vehicle designers seems like every time a good vehicle starts up they have to mess it up look what happened to the 240z. the gto. the camaro. i have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 4.7. its a great engine and has gobs of power. it pulls my 3800 lb. boat/trailer rig all day in 100 degree heat and the temp gauge doesnt budge. plus its very comfortable and roomy. it feels like a truck. the gas mileage is atrocious though. gas just pours through this engine. my average city/highway mileage is around 13 and i dont hot-rod. now the new rams have these.. =----- .

so get the 17 wheels like i did but i agree the new ram doesnt look nearly as good as the 94-2001 did. bdk the fronts of the new rams are so ugly id bet thered be a strong aftermarket for a simple one piece fiberglass front end with built in fenders -- one that tilts forward for easy access to the bottom of the engine front suspension etc. take the ugly hood grille and fenders off and sell em for parts and get an industrial clean-looking one piece tilting front end. might be the next big thing in truck accessories. of course it could be designed to fit the existing lines of the truck. -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .

my son recently bought my 96 cummins 4x4 long box reg cab from me. i loved that truck. i am now driving an 04 cummins long box reg cab and i love it! it is a lot more comfortable and a whole bunch quieter. i like the older body style better but think the 04 is a better truck. i am running 325 toyos on 18 rims which are pretty tough. it is impossible to find rugged 20 tires. .

unknown@unlistedspam.com writes paul jensen wrote what are the margins on these record profits he said gas companies. not sure what was meant by that though. most of the profits here in the usa seem to be by the distributors and not the gas stations nor the refiners. the gas stations fall into two general categories; 1 most greater than 75% are company owned stores meaning that the station itself land & building is owned by the major oil company. the local owner person or entity merely leases the station from the oil company and pays so much per-gallon as rent. the local owner gets to keep 4-5 per gallon but is responsible for upkeep and utilities business licenses wages inspection fees and etc. the oil co. will support them in any price wars which they do not start but with a cap of 10% of the pump price. if the price war goes deeper than 10% the balance is out of their own pocket. 2 the major pumpers - these are the prime location stations with multiple islands and pumps typically capable of servicing 12 or more cars at once. these are 100% company stores. there is a local manager but no local ownership. 100% of the profits go to the oil company. the manager and anyone else working there are only salaried. price is set by the oil company and any price war can go as far as they want to take it. refinery prices and their profits are set at a per-gallon rate and do not fluctuate. transportation costs are federally regulated and also do not fluctuate. contrary to popular belief ignorance most gasoline is distributed throught the country via a huge network of underground pipelines. the tanker trucks you see making deliveries to the stations have usually travelled less than 200 miles to get there. the lions share of profit is going to the arabs. while there is some markup occurring along the way most of that is federally regulated. large price disparities you see i.e. such as the pump price differences seen in california vs those in arkansas are comprised of taxes and costs associated with fuel additives. price differences you see across town from one station to another is simple greed and opportunity. example compare prices along the interstate highway to prices farther into town. even as little as 1 block away these will differ by several per gallon. for examply today in houston tx you will see prices for unleaded regular along the major highways at $2.05 per gallon but in neighborhoods away from the highways the same brand sells for $1.89 .

i own a 94 ram v10 4x4 and i like it. has been a good truck with no major problems. i also own a 2003 extended cab 4x4 cummins ho and i love it too. does ride better than the 94 pulls better too and gets better gas mileage and i like the looks too. ld my son recently bought my 96 cummins 4x4 long box reg cab from me. i loved that truck. i am now driving an 04 cummins long box reg cab and i love it! it is a lot more comfortable and a whole bunch quieter. i like the older body style better but think the 04 is a better truck. i am running 325 toyos on 18 rims which are pretty tough. it is impossible to find rugged 20 tires. .

i like the new durango. how does it do in turning radius i have an 02 dodge 1500 4x4 short bed regular cab lifted 5 with 35 tires and it turns on a dime relative to all my buddies trucks. easy to park and great off road. i love my ram cliff ive been driving rams since 97 starting with a 1500 4x4 then an 01 2500 4x4 and most recently an 04 2500 quad cab long bed with the hemi. all the trucks performed flawlessly my favorite being the 01. the most recent 04 was an excellent truck but presented a bit of a problem in local driving. the turning radius on these trucks is huge requiring 3 point maneuvers just to pull into a parking spot. last week i got trapped at home depot - simply could not back the monster out of the parking space. had to wait until someone moved a similar monster that was parked behind me. anyway traded it in. new ride is an 04 durango 4x4 limited with hemi and i really like it. dodge has done a good job in the upsizing of the durango and the hemi makes it fun to drive. best of all i can park easily again. eisboch .

the worst turning truck i had was a 90 extended cab 4x4 with an 8 bed ram. it took 3 lanes and a decent sized bike lane to make a u turn. my 95 and now my 03 same general specs make that same turn in 2 lanes and a bit of the bike lane. theyve done much better. --mike i like the new durango. how does it do in turning radius i have an 02 dodge 1500 4x4 short bed regular cab lifted 5 with 35 tires and it turns on a dime relative to all my buddies trucks. easy to park and great off road. i love my ram cliff ive been driving rams since 97 starting with a 1500 4x4 then an 01 2500 4x4 and most recently an 04 2500 quad cab long bed with the hemi. all the trucks performed flawlessly my favorite being the 01. the most recent 04 was an excellent truck but presented a bit of a problem in local driving. the turning radius on these trucks is huge requiring 3 point maneuvers just to pull into a parking spot. last week i got trapped at home depot - simply could not back the monster out of the parking space. had to wait until someone moved a similar monster that was parked behind me. anyway traded it in. new ride is an 04 durango 4x4 limited with hemi and i really like it. dodge has done a good job in the upsizing of the durango and the hemi makes it fun to drive. best of all i can park easily again. eisboch .

but at home depot i cant back into a space and be able to load supplies into the bed. its crazy how small they make the parking spots at home depot. they should expect that a good number of their customers will be driving full sized trucks. the real reason for that is a building code requirement. the building department wants x number of parking spaces x varies from city to city per 1000 sq ft of retail space. so to satisfy the building department and get as much building footprint as possible they make the spaces as small as permissible by code. of course they max out on the percentage of compact spaces they can have as well. im a contractor that not only builds these things but has to park in them as well. --mike toxictavrn wrote ive been driving rams since 97 starting with a 1500 4x4 then an 01 2500 4x4 and most recently an 04 2500 quad cab long bed with the hemi. all the trucks performed flawlessly my favorite being the 01. the most recent 04 was an excellent truck but presented a bit of a problem in local driving. the turning radius on these trucks is huge requiring 3 point maneuvers just to pull into a parking spot. last week i got trapped at home depot - simply could not back the monster out of the parking space. had to wait until someone moved a similar monster that was parked behind me. anyway traded it in. new ride is an 04 durango 4x4 limited with hemi and i really like it. dodge has done a good job in the upsizing of the durango and the hemi makes it fun to drive. best of all i can park easily again. eisboch ya know something its not the turning radius that got you stuck its the damn size of the parking lots they are designed with smaller aisles and spaces to get the maximum usage out of them i end up backing into most spaces cuz i cant turn into them straight on than i cant back out sometimes cuz the aisle is to narrow i cant tell you how many times people get pissed cuz they cant get into their car cuz my truck goes from line to line in the parking space i have every color of paint dings on each side of my dodge not to be mean but i am just as guilty cuz i open my doors and hit everyone as well fuck it i need to get out of my damn truck! also how bout some of those drive-thrus food places and banks i end up riding over the curb to make turns and my mirrors clear by barely an inch at some bank drive ups and its getting worse all the time all over the place kinda makes you long for the old days when everyone had an 18 long cars! when i was in high school i drove a 70 plymouth fury. the mcdonalds drive-through in my home town was too small then early 80s to accommodate that car. the drivers side rear tire would rub the curb and the right front fender would scrape the retaining wall when going around the curve in the drive-through. i back my ram into parking spaces most of the time too but at home depot i cant back into a space and be able to load supplies into the bed. its crazy how small they make the parking spots at home depot. they should expect that a good number of their customers will be driving full sized trucks. .
