Q: subject re 1997 dodge caravan gauge cluster problem fixed from nitpik bubba@mindspring.com date 10/20/2004 911 am eastern daylight time message-id xstdd.1$kh2.1233@.uswest.net loose wiring harness connection or broken wire. when the cluster quits working does it go dark or does everything just indicate minimums or maximums what exactly in the cluster indicates correctly or not ******* it has been about 10 days since we got the gauge cluster to work again and it is still working. i have forgotten what the gauge cluster does or does not do when it stops working. so the next time the gauge cluster stops working i will take notes so that i can come back here and answer your questions. wish us luck. it has now been about 10 days since we got the gauge clusters to work and they are still working. one recent sunday i was working on our 1997 dodge caravan se that was bought new. the gauges had suddenly stopped working off and on for the past few months and now they had stopped working again. the service engine came on. we checked the code and we would always get code 66. it had something to do with either the body control module and the transmission control module not giving out a signal according to our haynes book. what seems to have worked for us we ran through the automatic gears while the car was running in the driveway and then we lightly hit the top of the cluster a few times. the gauge cluster started working. it has been a little over a week and the clusters are still working. we took a 6 hour trip in the caravan this past weekend and the clusters are still working for your information before we decided to run through all the automatic gears we tried steps that had workded for us in the past when the gauges stopped working but these steps did not seem to work for us this time 1. we disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes. 2. we took out that little red fuse in the fuse box under the hood for a few minutes. 3. we banged very hard several times on the top of the cluster but nothing happened. this banging used to work in the past. 4. we checked all the fuses under the hood and inside under the ste .

well now its only the passengers side door it wont unlock the drivers door anymore when i pull it up or push it down but the drivers door will lock/unlock it. also sometimes the passengers side requires excessive force to pull it up to unlock but the key works fine. and no i dont have keyless entry .

sorry for the double post my computer submitted by mistake. anyway i have an 85 dodge prospector. my electrionic locks are starting to act up on me the passengers side wont unlock and when it does as soon as i let go of it it shoots back down. also the drivers side door sometimes will open. and i have to hold the key turned so i can open it. also it makes repetitive clicking noises when i try to lock it sometimes. any help is apperciated. pull the door panel and check the switch. its a cheap pos that sometimes falls apart and causes the type of problem youre having. good luck. .

its the iac on the back of the tb. it doesnt happen every time but three times in the last six weeks. when im coasting to a stop at a light or about to turn a corner the engine just quits. we replaced the coil and thought it was fixed but it died again a few days later. someone suggested changing the battery so we did that and the check engine light went out and stayed out for a change so we thought it was alright. then it died at a light again. other than the coil or the battery can anyone suggest anything else it might be the mechanic on our last visit said the fuel line is ok but that last visit was such a hassle we cant face going back. three times in and out and the check engine light always came back on at the first stop light. im afraid to turn it over to the mechanics again. if anyone has had this happen id love to hear how you fixed it. thanks for reading and for any advice or suggestions you care to give. .

lol gee how grown up of you. did you sneak onto daddys computer when mommy wasnt looking -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving nah mr. manwellers discourse definitely isnt a load of crap; you are. and you should be treated accordingly. -- pcolaphil to reply remove spamnot. life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up totally worn out and loudly proclaiming -- wow -- what a ride! | what a load of crap. | | -- | if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving | | | election determines fate of nation | | | in that this will be my last column before the presidential election | there will be no sarcasm no attempts at witty repartee. the topic is | too serious and the stakes are too high. | | this november we will vote in the only election during our lifetime | that will truly matter. because america is at a once-in-a-generation | crossroads more than an election hangs in the balance. down one path | lies retreat abdication and a reign of ambivalence. down the other | lies a nation that is aware of its past and accepts the daunting | obligation its future demands. if we choose poorly the consequences | will echo through the next 50 years of history. if we in a spasm of | frustration turn out the current occupant of the white house the | message to the world and ourselves will be two-fold. | | | first we will reject the notion that america can do big things. once | a nation that tamed a frontier stood down the nazis and stood upon | the moon we will announce to the world that bringing democracy to the | middle east is too big of a task for us. but more significantly we | will signal to future presidents that as voters we are unwilling to | tackle difficult challenges preferring caution to boldness embracing | the mediocrity that has characterized other civilizations. the defeat | of president bush will send a chilling message to future presidents | who may need to make difficult yet unpopular decisions. america has | always been a nation that rises to the demands of history regardless | of the costs or appeal. if we turn away from that legacy we turn | away from who we are. | | second we inform every terrorist organization on the globe that the | lesson of somalia was well learned. in somalia we showed terrorists | that you dont need to defeat america on the battlefield when you can | defeat them in the room. they learned that a wounded america can | become a defeated america. twenty-four-hour stations and daily | tracing polls will do the heavy lifting turning a cut into a fatal | blow. except that iraq is somalia times 10. the election of john | kerry will serve notice to every terrorist in every cave that the soft | underbelly of american power is the timidity of american voters. | terrorists will know that a steady stream of grizzly photos for cnn is | all you need to break the will of the american people. our own | self-doubt will take it from there. bin laden will recognize that he | can topple any american administration without setting foot on the | homeland. | | it is said that americas w.w.ii generation is its greatest | generation. but my greatest fear is that it will become known as | americas last generation. born in the bleakness of the great | depression and hardened in the fire of ww ii they may be the last | american generation that understands the meaning of duty honor and | sacrifice. it is difficult to admit but i know these terms are | spoken with only hollow detachment by many but not all in my | generation. too many citizens today mistake living in america as | being an american. but america has always been more of an idea than | a place. when you sign on you do more than buy real estate. you | accept a set of values and responsibilities. this november my | generation which has been absent too long must grasp the obligation | that comes with being an american or fade into the oblivion they may | deserve. i believe that 100 years from now historians will look back | at the election of 2004 and see it as the decisive election of our | century. depending on the outcome they will describe it as the | moment america joined the ranks of ordinary nations; or they will | describe it as the moment the prodigal sons and daughters of the | greatest generation accepted their burden as caretakers of the city on | the hill. | | mathew manweller | | | | couldnt have said it better myself! | | | | | | so many garys ..so.. | clyde | | .
