check out this site for an inexpensive light duty snow plow. i have seen it demonstrated on 1 of those automotive shows. it is non-mechanical and all you need is a class 3 or 4 receiver hitch on the front of the truck. http//www.usatruck.net/cgi-bin/store/usastore.cgiuseraction=list&category=snow%20plows%3bsnowsport%20plows i have a 98 ram 1500 qc 4x4 and am looking at adding a light duty snow plow for using on a couple of driveways. i am wondering if any other owners have done this without any problems. i know they make them for light duty use but wanted to see if anyone has had any issue with the truck and plow combo carl .

it looks like a good idea. ive never seen a hiniker blade before its just not popular around this area but if it would hold up to a bunch of use it looks ok. denny carolina watercraft works inc. loballeng@mindspring.com wrote in what do you guys think of this unit http//www.blizzardsnowplows.com/plowshiniker-cplow.asp -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com carl a guy that lives just down the road from me has one of those aluminum jobs that was shown here. hes happy with it but realizes it is not a real plow. in a lot of situations you need to pull up to a door and back drag the snow away and this aluminum job just wont to that its a push only setup. that other flexible thing i dont know if id waste my money on it. it looks purdy chincy. what happens if you get a heavy snow and the thing starts flexing on you when youre pushing it your 1500 will handle a 7 or 7.5 ft meyers or western blade. there are many others that im sure are good but i dont have experience with them. the downside of a quad cab when plowing is you have less visibility when backing up and the cab weighs more so you may have to beef up the front suspension a bit. long story short for a few driveways and maybe a lot or two youll be ok. denny i have a 98 ram 1500 qc 4x4 and am looking at adding a light duty snow plow for using on a couple of driveways. i am wondering if any other owners have done this without any problems. i know they make them for light duty use but wanted to see if anyone has had any issue with the truck and plow combo carl .

i do agree that 800# is a lot of weight...but id be putting it on a 2500 rather than a 1500. the snow left on that pull could very well have been due to an uneven surface. ive been considering a plow myself and liked this one primarily due to the fact that clearing driveways could be done easier than with most other methods...including getting out and doing it by hand. western also makes a pull setup http//www.westernplows.com/proplus.asp that is basically just a reversed edge but i cant see being able to pull very much unless you have only a couple of inches of buildup. as for tires i am still trying to find the absolute best to use for plowing only. ill be putting together a dedicated set for just this purpose. i think ive narrowed it down to the blizzak w965 or winter dueler dm-z2. i feel that the w965 would be better suited for 2500 series trucks and dm-z2 for 1500 due to the load carrying capabilities of the w965 load range e vs. c. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com carolina watercraft works inc. loballeng@mindspring.com wrote in what do you guys think of this unit http//www.blizzardsnowplows.com/plowshiniker-cplow.asp two things come to mind. take a look at the snow left after the pull in the midedle pic. also @800pounds it is damn heavy for a 1/2 ton. roy .

i saw that. and if you are looking at others such as western youll need to add the weight of the mount to the weight of the plow to get a total weight which may get you right close to the weight of a different unit you may mark off your list because of weight only. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com i just went into hiniker.com and took a look around. this is the same company that makes ag tillage equipment that im a little familiar with. chances are this is going to be a very well made blade if its anything like the ag equipment. also the blade and the truck mount weighs 889 lbs. there is also a decent video about it. denny .

denny wddodge@woh.rr.com wrote i just went into hiniker.com and took a look around. this is the same company that makes ag tillage equipment that im a little familiar with. chances are this is going to be a very well made blade if its anything like the ag equipment. also the blade and the truck mount weighs 889 lbs. there is also a decent video about it. denny carolina watercraft works inc. loballeng@mindspring.com wrote in i do agree that 800# is a lot of weight...but id be putting it on a 2500 rather than a 1500. the snow left on that pull could very well have been due to an uneven surface. ive been considering a plow myself and liked this one primarily due to the fact that clearing driveways could be done easier than with most other methods...including getting out and doing it by hand. western also makes a pull setup http//www.westernplows.com/proplus.asp that is basically just a reversed edge but i cant see being able to pull very much unless you have only a couple of inches of buildup. as for tires i am still trying to find the absolute best to use for plowing only. ill be putting together a dedicated set for just this purpose. i think ive narrowed it down to the blizzak w965 or winter dueler dm-z2. i feel that the w965 would be better suited for 2500 series trucks and dm-z2 for 1500 due to the load carrying capabilities of the w965 load range e vs. c. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com carolina watercraft works inc. loballeng@mindspring.com wrote in what do you guys think of this unit http//www.blizzardsnowplows.com/plowshiniker-cplow.asp two things come to mind. take a look at the snow left after the pull in the midedle pic. also @800pounds it is damn heavy for a 1/2 ton. roy hiniker sounds like a name of a beer .
