Q: good point maybe ill leave the truck bumper to fade after all. thanks. on thu 16 sep 2004 030129 gmt greg brewer r3gbrewer@xspamhealth.nb.ca wrote thats a good thing greg... it means that your wife will be hinting soon that you need a new truck.. *g* i know exactly what you mean. my truck isnt going to be a show truck either but the wifes new car was making it look a bit old in comparison so i figured i should at least try ... thanks for the info. greg ok if you insist but it is very shade-tree. on my 95 i took this back to black liquid stuff for putting on tires to make them nice and black and rubbed it on the bumper cover. after it dried i sprayed it with some other kind of aerosol tire dressing stuff. since then i spray it about 2-3 times a year with that tire dressing stuff and it keeps it looking ok. take your pick on the brand i just pick up whatever happens to look good at the time. i try to keep my work truck looking nice but it will never be a show truck if you know what i mean. denny come on someone must have some suggestions here i know that there are a few model years from 96 to 99 or later that had this same problem .... hi ive got a 97 ram 1500 and the top part of the front bumper is supposed to be black but it is so faded that it looks like its grey now. i know that all of these trucks have the same issue so there must be something that can bring the color back. what are people using to fix this thanks. greg please reply to the email address as well if you dont mind. mac .

sounds like the battery could be bad. sounds pretty simple but i would sub in another one before spending any major dinero. van has 46900 miles 3.3 engine oem battery no prior electrical problems. my wife went shopping and when she tried to start the van starter would not crank. only result was gauge needles moving to the right. she successfully jump started the engine but as soon as she backed out of the parking space the engine died. she later repeated the jump start using another donor car with same result. she then called me to come pick her up. i successfully jump started the engine and noticed the engine cranked noticeably slower than normal. i idled the engine for a few minutes at a medium rpm before disconnecting the jumper cables and this time the engine did not die. on the trip home she said the battery abs and brake lights were on some of the time then off again. also the gauges were erratic. after parking the van she killed the engine then was unable to restart it. to my non-mechanical mind this seems like more than a battery problem. any ideas morgan .

writes i understand this . but my truck has done it since new. i rotate the tires every 5k miles. i even have a new set of tires and the truck still does it. my problem isnt as bad as the original posters is. but when i drive down the highway if anyone in the truck is talking their voice vibrates. try talking and pounding your chest at the same time. thats what i mean. this is not normal. but dodge has never fixed it. i find it very hard to believe that all dodge trucks do it. no they dont all do that have your driveshaft checked for out-of-balance or more likely bent. .

maz1712@sbcglobal.net writes hey red the dodge dealer is not always the answer. i still have the same problem with my 01 ram. i have taken it into several dealers. all 5 star. they all say it shouldnt be doing this but after having it a few days they all tell me they all do it. so cut the guy some slack. geez i have been here for years and i can count on 1 hand the number of times you have posted something helpful. i have nothing against you but geez cut the guy some slack. bob im with you bob. he also gave a smart ass answer to the guy worried about his check engine light. jimbob well yes they all do it if you dont rotate your tires often enough. in fact if you dont rotate at least every 10k miles youll end up ruining the front tires causing them to become out of round and cupping. the first time my 97 my first experience owning a pickup chewed up its front tires at 21k miles the dealership said the tires were bad duh.. but couldnt offer any help because the new vehicle tire warranty was only 12k miles. i took it in to a front-end shop because i just knew there had to be something wrong to have caused that. but alignment was fine. however the guy at the front-end shop told me something my dealership didnt. he said with any full-sized pickup that because of the very uneven weight distribution you need to rotate your tires at every other oil change to avoid this problem. ive been following his advice for the last 6 years and had no more problems. .

for those whove been following my earlier saga i think its the water pump. it looks like its an aftermarket pump. i looked under the truck just now and saw a huge puddle. started the engine for about 45 seconds and saw h2o dripping out of the bottom... its passenger side mounted to the firewall so i guess it must be the waterpump even though it doesnt look like one. i was gonna let this one go...but.. first thats called an ac evap and you see condensation. this is something that most 16 year olds know and understand you said you ordered the service manual....great. its not going to do that much good as it assumes that you understand basics and you dont. take the fucking truck in and allow it to be tested by someone that knows what in hell they are doing..so far its clear you dont. .
