Q: bought a new 1500 2003 ram xcab with 4.7l engine. was told that i had to follow the hard use maintenance schedule. i dont use this to pull trailers maybe once a year or so and then it is a 1200 lb or less load. live on a paved road and travel on paved roads. if i follow the extended service plan can they void my warrantee i am using mobil1 for the lubrication and every 3000 miles seems a little excessive. gary .

bear in mind that the 4.7l has mysterious problems with lubrication failure. some discussions on ng about class action suit against chrysler for ignoring the problem and failing to aknowledge or correct. research in the ng 4.7l enigine problems and you should find all you need. severe service could also refer to your climate. az or ak for example are considered extreme due to temp extremes. good luck! bought a new 1500 2003 ram xcab with 4.7l engine. was told that i had to follow the hard use maintenance schedule. i dont use this to pull trailers maybe once a year or so and then it is a 1200 lb or less load. live on a paved road and travel on paved roads. if i follow the extended service plan can they void my warrantee i am using mobil1 for the lubrication and every 3000 miles seems a little excessive. gary .

gary hmmmmm i just learned sumpin....... the 4.7l engine has mysterious lubrication problems...... well ill be.........! i have been servicing em for almost five years now and i have yet to see a mysterious lubrication failure! just goes to show you what you can learn on the net! in answer to your question the simple answer is no no one can void your warranty by following schedule a in the owners manual but very few vehicles are driven in the conditions that allow schedule a to be used. read the maintenance schedules carefully and if you qualify to use the longer interval then by all means do so. i personally dont recommend it but you are well within the terms of the warranty by doing so. also be very careful about what you read on the net cause there is an awful lot of bs running around! enjoy your new ram! chryco service manager member sae bear in mind that the 4.7l has mysterious problems with lubrication failure. some discussions on ng about class action suit against chrysler for ignoring the problem and failing to aknowledge or correct. research in the ng 4.7l enigine problems and you should find all you need. severe service could also refer to your climate. az or ak for example are considered extreme due to temp extremes. good luck! bought a new 1500 2003 ram xcab with 4.7l engine. was told that i had to follow the hard use maintenance schedule. i dont use this to pull trailers maybe once a year or so and then it is a 1200 lb or less load. live on a paved road and travel on paved roads. if i follow the extended service plan can they void my warrantee i am using mobil1 for the lubrication and every 3000 miles seems a little excessive. gary .

on fri 2 jan 2004 015914 -0500 cbhvac stephenaddressscfrewedonpurpose@carolinabreezehvac.com wrote in a shop enviroment as long back as i can remember...back in the early 70s...there was a charge for diagnosis. and since now i am in the service end of a different sort the thing that people want now is free estimates. i did that for a while...no longer. you go in spend 2 hours measuring and then 2 to 3 hours later doing all the calculations to literally hand the work over to a hack that barely can install the stuff.... fuck it..i dont work for free and i damn sure dont do the other guys legwork for free. that is what makes this country so great. that is your right. me i personally have no problem with that philosophy. just be up front about it. bottom line you wouldnt ever be working for me. there are a bunch of good folks out there that do it differently. id hire one of them after getting estimates. not a big deal though. youd just get a job elsewhere and id just get a person to do the job elsewhere. no loss either way. .

i concur with mike 100%. there will be no issue with your warranty and dcx if you can demonstrate that you have met the terms of schedule a. also if it were my vehicle i would rather use organic motor oil and change it every 3000 miles than use a synthetic and change it every 6000 miles. final point i have never heard of a mysterious lubrication problem with the 4.7 liter engine. like mike ive been around them for five years - theyre fantastic engines. thanks for your purchase of a dcx vehicle and i hope that you enjoy your new ram. sbh gary hmmmmm i just learned sumpin....... the 4.7l engine has mysterious lubrication problems...... well ill be.........! i have been servicing em for almost five years now and i have yet to see a mysterious lubrication failure! just goes to show you what you can learn on the net! in answer to your question the simple answer is no no one can void your warranty by following schedule a in the owners manual but very few vehicles are driven in the conditions that allow schedule a to be used. read the maintenance schedules carefully and if you qualify to use the longer interval then by all means do so. i personally dont recommend it but you are well within the terms of the warranty by doing so. also be very careful about what you read on the net cause there is an awful lot of bs running around! enjoy your new ram! chryco service manager member sae bear in mind that the 4.7l has mysterious problems with lubrication failure. some discussions on ng about class action suit against chrysler for ignoring the problem and failing to aknowledge or correct. research in the ng 4.7l enigine problems and you should find all you need. severe service could also refer to your climate. az or ak for example are considered extreme due to temp extremes. good luck! bought a new 1500 2003 ram xcab with 4.7l engine. was told that i had to follow the hard use maintenance schedule. i dont use this to pull trailers maybe once a year or so and then it is a 1200 lb or less load. live on a paved road and travel on paved roads. if i follow the extended service plan can they void my warrantee i am using mobil1 for the lubrication and every 3000 miles seems a little excessive. gary posted via uncensored-.com - accounts starting at $6.95 - http//www.uncensored-.com the worlds uncensored source .
