Rocker Panel Covers, 94-99 axle swap, 318->360 swap
From : jacob suter
Q: im about to throw a paint job on my truck and id like to keep it looking good for a while - thinking about getting some rocker panel covers. i was hoping to find something made out of aluminum thats actually designed to screw or rivet on. i found some thin stainless steel plates - but they attach with double sided tape and dont seem very rugged... also went out to a friends fathers construction lot and discovered they have a fleet of old dodge trucks/vans in the back. i discovered the following goodies a 94 dodge ram 1500 v6 w/ 3.92 gears and possibly limited slip. im interested in grabbing the axle out of this. does it have the axle speed sensor like my 99 models axle does a 94 dodge ram van 3500 15 pass w/ 360 v8 - totaled with 65k on the clock. entire underside of van is destroyed transmission included but no damage to the bellhousing motor mounts oil pan or harmonic balance. nobody attempted to start it after the wreck so the engines actual status is unknown. i was wondering how hard it would be to swap this into my halfton/nv3500 setup. yes i know the transmission will be running slightly out of spec ill keep my foot out of it... can i use an 2500/3500 360/nv4500 flywheel i know my 318s flywheel will not work due to the 360s requiring like 8 ozs of external counterbalancing. can i use my harmonic balance or will i need the 360s should i re-cam the 360 im mostly looking for decent backroad/highway economy with some decent of course limited by the nv3500 towing capacity. what can i do about a computer theres no such creature as a 360/5speed halfton stock application in the usa and the 3/4 ton 360/manual vehicles supposedly have two oxygen sensors at least the ones in the usa any ideas about canada. could i get this custom reprogrammed for what im doing any suggested places to try any help appreciated. thanks js js .
