Replace Tranny Cooler Return Line

From : steve

Q: friends i have a 1996 ram pu 1500 v8 5.9l with an auxiliary transmission cooler. the return line coming from the cooler leaks at the quick snap. both the service manual and the parts people at the dealership say i have to replace the whole line because dodge discontinued the quick snaps because they leak. i already purchased the line and the one mechanic said theres a bit of cursing and swearing but its not too bad to install. my question is how hard is it and is there anything i need to do or be aware of before i start or do during the operation thanks all! steve .

i hate the idiots that write and send these things... but if anyone actually believes that micro$oft would email an attachment to a user they almost deserve to get a virus.. at last count ive gotten and auto-shitcanned over 600...........somebody with my address obviously has it probably debs aunt.....she opens anything and refuses to shell out for norton............like you say.....some people deserve it .

better yet............get the proper fittings and use 1/2 inch hydraulic hose for cooler lines for that application have them run your vin.there was a recall on some models. .

ive got a 97 dakota that came with non-remote mirrors. i would like to replace them with remote controlled ones. id appreciate any information on this upgrade from someone who may have done it. it seems that anything related to electronics on modern vehicles is anything but simple. maybe the aftermarket has something that just needs a hot wire to a switch circuit to operate the mirrors chaos confusion and trouble!!!! my work here is almost done .

robert gary and all is the below recall what you were referring to if so i know it was supposed to have been done but i dont think that this is the line nor area that is leaking. i certainly could be wrong as my knowledge of mechanics is feeble at best. the clip that is leaking is a clip on the return line about eight inches out of the aux cooler. i dont have a crimping tool so for now i figured buying the line would be cheaper and one fitting to use on the existing hose actually cost almost as much as the whole line; go figure. steve make dodge model ram pickup affected years 1994 1995 1996 1997 units affected 50846 tc recall # 1997096 manufacturer campaign code 722 recall details note gasoline powered vehicles only. under certain high load operating conditions the transmission fluid temperature could exceed the melting point of the connector which retains the fluid line to the transmission. should this occur the fluid line may become disconnected from the transmission and fluid may spray onto the exhaust manifold possibly resulting in a fire. correction the connector fittings on the high temperature side of the transmission fluid cooler line will be replaced with connectors incorporating a stainless steel retainer. .

well if it was my rig that whole plumbing system would get replaced with 1/2 inch hydraulic hose with crimped on connections robert gary and all is the below recall what you were referring to if so i know it was supposed to have been done but i dont think that this is the line nor area that is leaking. i certainly could be wrong as my knowledge of mechanics is feeble at best. the clip that is leaking is a clip on the return line about eight inches out of the aux cooler. i dont have a crimping tool so for now i figured buying the line would be cheaper and one fitting to use on the existing hose actually cost almost as much as the whole line; go figure. steve make dodge model ram pickup affected years 1994 1995 1996 1997 units affected 50846 tc recall # 1997096 manufacturer campaign code 722 recall details note gasoline powered vehicles only. under certain high load operating conditions the transmission fluid temperature could exceed the melting point of the connector which retains the fluid line to the transmission. should this occur the fluid line may become disconnected from the transmission and fluid may spray onto the exhaust manifold possibly resulting in a fire. correction the connector fittings on the high temperature side of the transmission fluid cooler line will be replaced with connectors incorporating a stainless steel retainer. .

fuel pump hi guys ive been handed a problem child a 96 dodge van v6 3 speed auto. the owner has already run through the gamut of replace parts and cross fingers routine. here are the symptoms as described to me. runs okay until it warms up then dies. restart after it cools and repeat. they tell me it mostly happens when its under 1/4 tank of fuel but not necessarily. when it dies they tell me it pops through the throttle body i havent driven it yet cant confirm the description. what theyve done 1. full tune up new plugs wires cap and rotor 2. pulled all six injectors and cleaned them all 3. cleaned fuel rail had some rust / gunk in it 4. cleaned throttle body looks real nice! what ive done 1. checked fuel pressure reads 4045 psi at idle drops to 30 when reved up 2. checked the key codes got 21 27 three times! three injectors i was really thinking fuel pump and or relay but the pressure test seems to shoot that idea dead. maybe three bad injectors cutting off the fuel would mimic a bad fuel pump dunno obviously got some more work / diagnosis ahead of me. anybody had any similar problems insights thanks robert .
