Q: on thu 20 oct 2005 101548 -0400 carolina watercraft works cooltoys@bellsouth.net wrote not necessarily. he may get the correct voltage readings but with a bad connection he may not be getting sufficient current. there is a difference. no there is not. he has a simple series circuit. we are reading voltage drops. positive of lamp to positive of battery. negative of lamp to negative of battery.if there is no resistance he will not read any voltage. also reading positive of lamp to battery negative or negative of lamp to battery positive with lamp on there will be a lower voltage at the lamp if there is resistance in the circuit. you jhust have to know how to use the meter - which is what i was attempting to explain. ive done this for a living since 1969. .

ijust purchased this truck and at about 60 mph it wants to shift in and out of overdrive constantly with very little torque on the engine. any ideas it seems there might be an easy solution with a new sensor or most likely what youre feeling isnt a 4-3 3-4 shift but the torque converter locking and unlocking. two common causes of this are a bad throttle position sensor tps located on the throttle body on top of the intake manifold or a bad brake switch located on a bracket alongside the brake pedal arm. both are easily checked with a voltmeter an analog meter is better for testing the tps and both are inexpensive and simple to replace. there are other possibilities but these are the most common. .

dennis wrote ive got a 97 dodge ctd and want to install a trans. temp. gauge. i ordered one from the local auto parts dealer who suggested a stewart warner gauge #82344 and a sending unit #280ee-f. the instructions read cut a hole in the instrument panel. theres no place to do that. so now im wondering if ive ordered the wrong gauge. chrysler told me they dont make them and id have to find an after market gauge. what brand of guage to others use and are they electric or mechanical. the stewart warner is electric. genos garage has mounts that will work with the stewart warner gauge. they even sell the paint. http//tinyurl.com/8ar4g -- ken .
